Miasms and Soul - the expression of miasm in the Soul

Post by Joy Lucas »

The word "sin" isn't ageless, it is relatively modern, pre 10thC? It
just means 'that which is true' and so the applications are endless.
Best wishes, Joy

Mm, I'm missing you--"sin" means "that which is true"?
You meant...
Also, do you happen to know how the word (or similar) is used in
non-Christian contexts? It's not something I'd thought about before.
The Hindu equivalent (I think) would be karma ("you reap what you
sow"), which personally I find a much more appropriate model. I'm
wondering to what extent other religions have tried to guilt-trip their
members into a state of (even feigned) "goodness"?

I am trying to find a way of keeping this on topic but I am struggling
as it doesn't really have much to do with homeopathy except maybe in
discussing the origin of the first miasmatic expression - it means
'that which is' or 'that which has been proven', 'being', but the
religious connotation has taken it against this, to sin against, to
miss that which is true, etc and I should think all religions will have
their own version.

So in terms of what I first wrote I would use my original sin concept
to mean 'that which is' and susceptibility is born out of how each
individual will react to 'that which is' (and the possession of fire
was enough to start the ball rolling) - to what extent that
susceptibility is a given, i.e. an inherited mixture or a unique
accumulation isn't always easy to assess. Cause and effect, basically?
Best, Joy

The question is not just whether good or bad and right or wrong
exist for the patients - certainly they have a concept of that as
well as the homeopaths themselves . The question is why should
homeopathy use that to define how miasms started or to map the
return of the old symptoms to cleansing the sin which even
metaphorically is not the same.

From my view point these are not overarching concepts but
individualistic- killing and eating a cow is not a sin in some
religions whereas it is in some others. Even in the same religion
all of these have individual and personal interpretations for each
one of us. Spirituality is a personal thing where some concepts are
shared whereas others are not- which means this should not be the
basis for explaining the advent and growth and annihilaton of acute
or chronic diseases. It is what meaning each individual's
religious / spiritual practice has for the individual patient that
is important. Though probably the practitioner cannot but
unconsciously influence the patient in a therapeutic relationship,
this should still be something the physician should be aware of and
exert to minimise; this fact should not be used as a license to
influence the patient to adopt the same world view as the physician.

If the physician wants to deal as a Father/ mother /Creator with the
patient that itself shows unresolved issues in the physician and all
the more reason why he/she should not be dealing with the issues. We
should not allow the patients to hang their hang-ups in the hooks we
provide.

If the physician needs to feel capable of dealing with all these
archetypal issues and Father/ Mother/ Creator issues of the patient
they should probably undergo psychodynamic preparation or go thru
Murray Bowen's process of differentiation before doing this. I
understand that we want to help the patients in all ways we could
but there is also the question of "not harming the patient" in our
zeal and enthusiasm. And we certainly are NOT the answer to ALL the
patients questions and problems. Not all of us are Dumbledores....

What we are seeing are only the effects and not the cause. It is
only when we try to explain the cause that we get into problems, I
can understand chronic disease as a given "that which is" because
basically at this point everyone has it and everyone had it...

And if we theorize animals have miasm then none of these theories
hold water... for that matter any explanation would be plausible...
in humans it might not even be Fire - we can use the Penis envy or
Breast envy to explain it... and miasm might have been the envy
between the have and have nots between the sexes...

As Joy asks where is this helping in any way - homeopathy? The
question that started the whole discussion is the relationship
between soul and miasms and chronic diseases from Leelah.

Even Karma might help in the state of what is available but not what
should be done. None of the theories are actionable - our approach
should be how is this going to help me in assessing the situation
and prescribe... karma does not help in this.... in fact lots of
times Karma makes people take on a nihilistic attitude and I have
seen this in many Indians.

"Nihilistic" means(?) that "nothing makes any difference anyway"?
Why would the idea of karma lead to that?

Because what you are doing now or suffering now is the result of Karma
of the past and of the previous life time and so whatever we do now
does not matter. This is looking karma from the posterior end which
many people are wont to do...

Yes, but sometimes we need to be able to say "I do not know"...........I do
not know the origin of miasms, the origin of the universe or even how my
computer does work.
But I do not have a problem saying that I do not know and honestly I do not
care. I do not need to invent mythical figures whose own origin then become
a mystery that nobody can explain.

That sounds (if I may use a technical term) dumb...
If "today" is the result of "yesterday", surely "tomorrow" will be the
result of "today"?
Sounds like rationalization to me!

Yeah - but they do not have to think of tomorrow as long as they get
what they want today and they are not getting it... believe me
Shannon I have seen so many dumb people mooning around with these
ideas... whatever it is it has nothing to do with practising
homeopathy - lots of times I have seen that mixing origin theory or
religion with medicine does not lead to anything positive...not that
I am atheist- on the contrary I am trying to practice godliness
without interference from god... concepts of original sin,
intermediate sin etc. have nothing to add to the clarity of concepts
in homeopathy- they are more baggage that we add and some that the
gurus - current and past- add to the mixture...and at this point
when we have so many chakras spinning, auras shining, lotuses and
lilies growing in homeopathic discourse- similimum requiring
benediction is the last straw...
