Re: ? stupid question

Post by michele & Peter Graham »

I post this under the premise that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

My cute timber garden shed circa 1918 (considered relatively old here) is being eaten by white ants (called termites elsewhere perhaps).

Once they've eaten the she they will probably move on to the house.

Outdoor timber here is treated with arsenic.
I was thinking of spraying with Ars. Alb.

Does anyone have ANY experiences?

Thanks in advance,
Michele.

Dear Michele, I dont think its a stupid question I hope someone else out
there has tries it - If you do please post your findings - I live in a
termite area and have had trouble with them so would love to know if I could
use Ars Alb - I must admit I did think of potentising the termite itself and
seeing if it could act as a deterent but time and damage did not allow me
that grace. Pauline

Hi Michele,
Don't have experiences with WHITE ants, but with the normal red or black
ants.

This year once again hords of ants were using our terrace to build their
nests. Averse to using baking powder or other things to kill them I
used:
Acidum formicicum.

Diluted a glob of a 200c (the only potency I had at hand) in about a
litre of water and sprinkled it over their paths.

It took a few days, but it worked like a charm.

Maybe Aidum formicicum or Formica rufa (the ant itself) could help (they
are not of the same species of course; the termites belonging to the
Isoptera, the ants to the Formicoidea).

Or Anacardium orientale: the native oil is used as a repellent for
termites, so it could also be worth a try to use it in a potentized form
and sprinkle it.

Best,

Gaby

Well, what we do here is coat most of the building wood with "engine
oil". OR else there are oil based solutions that we paint onto the
furniture.

I've never thought of using a homeoapthic rememdy...! interesting!
MAybe putting a remedy into engine oil....

I am not so sure- how do we know that the potentized remedy is not
going to treat the ants for some unknown disease and cure them of
it... and make them munch thru your shed faster?

I am also not sure of the rationale of using potentized
medicines...are we trying to poison them or conduct a proving or
trying to treat them for some disease?

Anacardium in crude is a poison but why would it help in potencies?
May be as a proving it might cause "memory loss" in termites so they
do not know what they came for... and forget about munching- Or it
might cause the "delusion that it has 2 wills" and start thinking -
"to bite or not to bite" and pondering philosophically might
postpone the wicked intentions?

If using potentized remedies can get rid of pests how about using it
on unwelcome guests?

If some animals can be helped with homeopathy ( like pets) how would
homeopathy be able to get rid of termites? I think it might be
because of the alcohol or the vehicle used for mixing that is
working... or are we saying that homeopathic medicines "know" that
for one living organism it is a medicine and for others it is an
insecticide?

But it is the shed that it sick because it has shown susceptibility to
being taken over by termites and could not keep them at bay, so the
shed needs treating not the termites - perhaps kreosotum :-)

Or may be use Electricitas to shock the termites and Gunpowder to
scare them? ( I might use "Vacuum" in potencies and the termites
might get sucked in...)

Or may be Termites to sheds are like Scabies to humans so that a
dose of Sulphur will take care of this psoric pestilence and
increase immunity and make the shed "shed" it's weakness?

Seriously a search in google can probably get you a good botanical
or something that is effective against termites ( whereas in
homeopathy you might not know what potency to give, LM or ascending
CMs, whether to repeat or not etc. If you treat the shed as Joy
suggests and aggravate the condition by not following the 6th
edition closely, you might lose the shed itself - and it might
collapse on itself ;-)

I would opt for the core delusion and probably choose Merc iod rubra
which has dreams of being under a shed :-))

Sorry sorry sorry Michele we are in the silly season and are just
having a bit of fun, best wishes, Joy

I have had to do extensive renovations at one time.
Presently surrounded by mounds which I feel criminal about burning out.
Could I spray the mounds with neem oil and kerosene I wonder. Planting
crystals around the house and demanding of the ants they leave me alone
seemed to work for about 10 years but then it happened. They are busy
little creatures?// Jean
