rubric/mm help please

Post by VR VR »

Hi,
I just took a case - a "sent by my wife and won't tell you anything" patient...
Chief complaint: numbness in the ball of both feet, with occasional sudden shooting pains into the toes. No clear exciting cause, but the problem started at the end of Seder night, the first night of the Jewish festival of passover, characterized by a long night of eating heavy foods and drinking four cups of wine (at least). He said that at the time he thought that's what caused the problem with his feet.
He had his gall bladder removed 6 months before this happened, they found 20 tiny stones, brownish in colour (like gravel).
He reports a strange symptom: after eating fish or meat, he becomes very cold, the back of his neck turns to ice, he gets a headache between his eyes and he feels his circulation slowing. He gets sleepy, and sleep amel. This has been going on for about 5-6 years.
No clear hot/cold modalities, but bathing in warm water amel.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Vera

Vera-
This looks more like Carbo veg to me,
< fish, < meat < wine
Blood seems to stagnate in capillaries... etc,

Other contenders: Nux vom, Lyc, Sep, Nat.s

Dear Vera, you don't give any emotional sx or useful modalities
regarding his feet but it was the <<< from fish almost to the point of
being stupefied that made me think of Cocculus (a substance used for
stupefying fish). It has numbness of the soles (in fact the numbness
can be anywhere as it is part of the paralysing effects), enlargement
of the liver (connection with gallstones), abdomen feels as if full of
sharp stones (gravel), fatigue, chilliness. Just an idea. Best wishes,
Joy

Cocculus a good idea for treatment. Wonder if causation could be
Ciguatera . Associated with tropical fish ingestion. The meat dishes
difficult to understand unless cross contamination, Jean
