Unusual tongue ruberic

Post by H.T. Cotter »

I have a patient who has this unusual rubric -- he presses his tongue against the roof of his mouth involuntarily or unconsciously. Has anyone encountered this before? Anything in the literature about it?

Thanks,

Tom

In Repertorium Universale, Roger has put a rubric in Mouth section
as: "Tongue - adheres to palate", which has 14 remedies.

I am not sure, however, whether 'adhering to' can be taken as
synonymous of "pressing involuntarily"!

Regards.

Hi Tom,
Additionally to the MOUTH, tongue adheres to roof -rubric (whcih often
includes a dryness of mouth) you should think of:
Cajuputum:

Quoted from Encyc.Hom. (Hom. Links 1999) a case by Terje Wulfsberg:

A woman born in 1933, came for consultation in June, 1994.
Chief complaint: 'I feel that my tongue grows and grows (3). I have a
sensation that my mouth is full, as if I have a tennis ball in my mouth
when I wake up in the morning. Then the tongue presses like a stick
towards the roof of my mouth and towards my teeth.'

Perhaps you ask your patient about more sensations concerning the
tongue.

Best,

Gaby

Dear Friend Gaby,

So good to hear from you again. I think of you every time I'm gong in and out of Austria. My, how the years have flown! Thanks for the reference. I'll check out Cajuputum. My patient is an allopathic physician who has done well under my care, but that symptom and a few minor ones continue. Soon will make him another convert to the light side of the force. I have yet another anniversary of my 49th birthday at the end of this month. Had hoped to spend it in Europe, but might have to settle for Hawaii instead this year. Either way rather hoping for some rest.

Keep well. thanks again.

Huge hugs,

Tom
