Re: Info request of GARDENIA JASMINOIDE
Excellent and thanks Willy.
I think it could be considered a spleen rx and if it does have an
affinity to CFS that develops from a debilitating acute disease then
the spleen might well be involved in being unable to fight off that
acute and it develops into a chronic condition.
It is part of the Rubiacea family which is all about over stimulation
and CFS can be triggered by 'burn out', too much stimulation and is
followed by fatigue and an intense need to sleep to recuperate.
Meditating is the typical compensating factor. The dreams are
interesting and reflect this level of stimulation as does the
characteristic 'rushing' of the blood and the type of peculiar pain 'as
if all stirred up inside'
Fascinating, thanks. Best wishes, Joy

Re: Info request of GARDENIA JASMINOIDE
Hi Joy
Out of the 20 rems in the Rubiaceae family (asper. cain. ceph. chin-b. chin.
chinin-ar. chinin-m. chinin-s. chinin-sal. cinch. coff-t. coff. coffin.
emetin. gali. ip. mit. rub-t. uncar-tom. yohim.) a search in EH indicates
that 9 of these have reference to the spleen in some way (cain. chin-b.
chin. chinin-ar. chinin-s. coff-t. coff. ip. rub-t.)
It is highly possible that Gardenia jas. will possess this sphere of action
also --- and the reason that the other 11 do not indicate action on the
spleen could be just due to lack of proving info.
Your comments on the Rubiaceae having overstiumulation as a theme is borne
out by Sankaran's notes --- I am sure you have read these. In case you or
others haven't here are some -- Gardenia is unfortunately not mentioned in
this group --- and I noticed that the source for the info on this remedy in
Synthesis and EH is :

RUBIACEAE
On Studying remedies of Rubiaceae - following symptoms were found
Activity; creative (1) (Allen R)
Activity; increased excessively (Complete)
Activity; sleeplessness with (Complete)
Ailments from; joy excessive (Complete)
Emotion: ailments from: sudden, pleasant (1) (Knerr)
All the above symptoms speaks of the main theme of family rubiaceae i.e.
stimulation; There is a hunger for stimulus - he is greedy and has many
desires; many ideas and fantasies, he wants all these things because he
wants stimulation. There is an enjoyment of stimulants such as alcohol, sex
and tobacco. However, his nerves are prone to over-stimulation and too much
stimulation aggravates him. everything stimulates then over - stimulates,
which leads to aggravation. This explains why stimulating things aggravate
them, e.g. joy, excitement, pleasant surprises and, of course, stimulant
substances such as tobacco, alcohol and tea.
The well-known lassitude of China shows the other side of stimulation
(passive reaction) also dullness is seen in Coffea and other Rubiaceae
remedies.

I love writing Stories. Whatever is convincing me, politics, sport. Mostly I
write of my reactions.
I have a lot of ideas but cannot do anything. I write a lot of letters to
the newspaper but none are published.
She was very, very excited about the trip. She was very happy at the time
when this pain started.
The daughter picks up the phone and calls her mother and the mother gets
very excited and disturbed about it. She keeps thinking of plans and means
of making her daughter financially independent.
Since the age of around thirteen years he would daydream about having a
poultry farm with a thousand hens that laid eggs.
He would dream of a big grand house with a swimming pool
I want to be a creator, compose music, and make a combination of Indian and
Western but in a different style. If I become big, I will be very happy, I
enjoy food, listening to Irish flute, violin; I prefer sad music (many
desires).
My ideas of how the things should progress were too fast for them, and they
put me in cold storage and didn’t use my ideas anymore.

Re: Info request of GARDENIA JASMINOIDE
Dear Robyn thanks for this, the study gets even better
Also, China has the sensation of a cavity in the spleen area - similar
to the description in the original post regarding Gardenia.
Many of these rx also have overpowering fatigue in their sx picture -
either due to anaemia, emotions, overwork or depletion from disease -
cat's claw (uncaria tomentosa) is considered almost a specific for CFS
( but unproved I believe).
It is also possible that some of these rx are in sub-orders of the
rubiaceae family such as Galium (which hasn't had a proving either).
Many thanks, lots of studying still to do. Best wishes, Joy
PS please no puns on the sx 'Joy aggravates' that appears often in this
group of remedies

****yes, Cat's Claw is very interesting --- am taking it at the moment in
tincture form --- it is traditionally (in Peru) a tonic and restorative,
however it is renowned herbally for its immune enhancing and
antiinflammatory properties and its use with CFS as you mention.
It tastes pretty bad, but has an amazing brown/red colour -- cloudy and
unusual compared to most tinctures.
There are a few studies that show its action pharmacologically, and some
clinical studies as well.

Re: Info request of GARDENIA JASMINOIDE
You could always conduct a proving for us all
I am betting that many of the rx in this group will also render a
red/brown colour because they all have such an affinity to the blood.
Simon - did the MM on Gardenia resonate with you at all (if that's not
too personal a question)
best wishes, Joy

Resonate? Hmmm, might have to try it to find out!
Certainly aspects did but then so did 100 other Rxs under CFS.
Cheeky lass!
