I am beginning to think that of you have enough
charisma and are a good enough salesman you can create a
consensus reality by having hundreds of people latching onto
your ideas and taking them as gospel. The energy created by
that can be very powerful. Maybe its an OK way of doing things in
the end. I think its largely what happened with astrology, the I
Ching and other well know methods of divination like The Tarot,
and Im very pro those as I know they 'work'. As Anthony Robbins
said, "there is nothing wrong with belief systems as long as they
are positive ones".
((I know that you don't really think that my endowment policy will cover the cost of my mortgage just because the salesman had a positive attitude(!).
If any belief system is self-fulfilling and therefore fair game in practice (not sure this is *exactly* what you meant, either) - what is our obligation to paying patients/clients to explain where we are coming from? Some will have prepared themselves by reading books and attending lectures that give the impression that they are signing on for treatment in a relatively long-established therapy with generally accepted principles. If you are prepared to say to your patient, this is an unproved/new remedy selected on the basis of dowsing/speculative theory/an innovative lecture I went to, then fine: after all many of us would receive treatment on those bases if we had faith in the practitioner. It doesn't seem honest though to gain the respectability of a long tradition and then keep quiet about the fact that we are actually doing things quite differently and quite experimentally.
I do agree that our requirement of a pharmacy should relate to manufacturing standards, and possibly, how much they put back into homeopathy through supporting provings and research and charitable projects. I would have thought that both Helios and Ainsworths come out ok on those scores, in the UK.
Finally, a request for a bit more cutting of emails, at least of all the headers and footers that accumulate.
Cheers
