I am a critic of seminar provings, because when a person pays money to hear a
teacher teach, they should not have to also become unwitting human volunteers
for a scientific experiment. The proving experience is a wonderful one, as
are seminars. The two should not be mixed. for a teacher to conduct a proving
at a seminar means they don't have to prepare lessons, and they then
gather proving information to teach at their next seminars. This is not
education. Provers should not have to PAY for the experience.
Many are not in their right minds and cannot adequately absorb information
they have paid to hear. For sensitive individuals this is even worse.
I am a sensitive prover- I paid to go to a semimar once, years ago, and was
then informed that there would be a proving. I asked to have my money
returned but it was too late. The person conducting the proving was not even
the instructor, but one of the students. She called and asked me if it was ok
to do the proving, since the organizer had promised me there would be no
provings. I said No it was not ok. She did the proving anyway, exhibiting her
selfishness and lack of interest in healing others around her.
I was very sick during the whole proving, which involved a 5 hour plane trip.
This is not the way we build community.
This is not how we teach.
This is not how we learn.
This is NOThow to do provings.

i agree, and for other additional reasons. The mind can easily imagine and
concoct all kinds of things under appropriate environment, such as groups
hysteria.
The Jung/Synchronicity fan clubbers have fallen into the trap Jung himself
warned about..Mercurius cuts both ways...the mind can externalise all kinds
of interesting symbolic parallels but whether they are meaningful is an
entirely different issue.
The best provings would be done on people who are not homeopathic students.

Re: seminar provers
I appreciate how advantageous it is to take part in a proving, however, for
it to be of value to homoeopathy, RULES need to be followed closely.
Hn regarded provings as very important. Provings are the KEY to find the
hidden medical properties of substances and things around us. One of the
essential elements of becoming a practitioner of the 'healing art' is based
on the knowledge gained from provings - Organon 6 - Aph 5 " ....... If he
clearly perceives what is curative in medicines, that is to say to each
individual medicine (knowledge of medicinal powers)".........
Therefore the effects of having produced disease symptoms in someone need to
be carefully taken from them and observed.
So we need a group of volunteers who are the one-to-one observers and
recorders and another group who are volunteer provers who will be made sick.
It is critical here too that the observers and volunteers stay unbiased by
other influences - especially how other provers are performing. The
observers cannot also be provers at the same time, because they could be
under delusional powers of the remedy. Also of critical importance, is the
MASTER prover who supervises all the matters relevant to this exercise.
Privacy also needs to be observed at all times too. Some symptoms may be
embarrassing to discuss in a group, but on a one-to-one basis they are
discussed much easier.
So sadly I do not think it is advisable to conduct conference proving
because it also lacks the personal counselling for the effects arising from
the proving. Do not forget we are making our volunteers sick on all spheres
of their lives.
We owe a duty of care to provers - without these volunteers there would be
no expansion of homoeopathic Materia Medica.
Too many people have already been damaged by improper conduct of provings.
I agree however that all practitioners should get themselves involved in at
least one proving. It is an eye-opener.
If we are to conduct a proving with the group of sceptics, we will need
volunteers to administer and supervise the individual proving. Please do
let me know if you are interested. Any one in Las Vegas please?
