Traumeel

Post by Dale Moss »

A friend of mine, a chiropractor, is getting some guff from the local
chiropractic board for having prescribed Traumeel ointment and natural
anti-inflammatories (proteolytic enzymes) in a case. Although I plan to
check out Heel's website for her, I was wondering if any members of the list
had some ready links to research on Arnica -- research that would be
palatable to those of the allopathic persuasion?

Peace,
Cinnabar

Cinnabar,
There is tons of research and study on Traumeel itself. It is in
the PDR, and is being used by orthopedists in the U.S. In addition, it goes to
the Olympics w/ the German Olympic team, and if I am not mistaken, is also a
staple in the Pittsburgh Steelers sports medicine chest. I may have some
research on Arnica, but I have many references on Traumeel. The Heel website
may have some of the references, but there are 20 yrs of Journals w/ studies
quoted, as well.

Hi Cinnabar,
Could I ask where this is happening? Most of the chiropractors I've
known have used *so* many other therapies along with "bone crunching",
I didn't know their association made a big deal about it. (Tho I'm
sure it must vary from place to place, and maybe the group I knew was
very unusual?)

Thanks Barbara, Lynn, and PJ for your most helpful suggestions. I guess
this particular board doesn't read the PDR very closely.

Shannon, this is taking place in Massachusetts, which usually doesn't go in
for such nonsense. The words "abuse of power" keep coming to mind -- seems
to be epidemic these days.

Peace,
Cinnabar

HI C, hope you are well. Boiron did a study on Arnica circa 1983 by
poisoning rats and then giving them arnica. M.Quinn pharmacist supplies
Arnica to surgeons who have no connection with homeopathy, and has been
doing so for 10 yrs or so--so he may have some research leads.

Best,
A
