Seminar proviings

Post by Charlotte Gilruth »

I forgot to give details about the seminar provings: every participant was
sent the unlabelled remedy a week or two before the seminar began, with
instructions to record all new symptoms. Then on the last day of the
five-day seminar, we had a "debriefing" session where we took turns going to
the front of the class and describing our proving experience. It was
amazing to see the common threads running through with physical, mental, and
emotional symptoms alike.

After my experiences, I can't recommend too strongly that all students and
practitioners of homeopathy participate in provings. Even informal provings
can be very enlightening. For instance, I took Lac caninum once for a sore
throat with other physical symptoms changing from side to side, etc. (I
thought I had good confirmatory symptoms). What I remember most from taking
the remedy is that I found myself barking (!) now and then to punctuate my
comments, and that, walking past a meat case in a grocery store, I felt an
overwhelming desire to grab and tear a slab of beef with my teeth, though
I've happily been a vegetarian for 30 years!

By the way: Wendy Howard, I'd like to hear more about your proving
experience. Maybe others on the list would as well.

Hi Charlotte

Since we've already had some offlist correspondence about proving
experiences, I'm not sure exactly what aspect of it you're referring to
here. The actual symptoms of the particular remedies I've proved? The
proving experience itself? The experience of symptoms prior to the proving?
Any one proving in particular?

Regards
Wendy
