Dear Colleagues
Patient reported that almost on daily basis when he wakes up, he has an eye
lash in one of his eyes which he has to get out.
If you have the resources, please do a search on this for me and report. It
sounds to me to be an SRP.
With thanks

Lashes in eyes
Re: Lashes in eyes
Is the eye lash loose, i.e. comes free from the eye lid and lodges in
the eye.
Other possible explanations = entropian - quite a common inward
turning of both lid and lashes especially of the aged as the skin
around the eye becomes a bit baggy. Also trichiasis is a tendency to
inward growing of lashes.
The fact this happens at night with your client might be because he is
rubbing his eyes without knowing it.
I wouldn't rush to say it is a SRP yet - just my opinion anyway.
best wishes, Joy

Re: Lashes in eyes
Dear Joy
The pt is 57, male
The eye lash is found lose inside the eye. There is no evidence of inward
turning of the lid or inward growth of the lashes
They look healthy enough!

Re: Lashes in eyes
Then the rubric 'eyelashes, hair falling from' would be appropriate -
although if this is happening every night/morning he wouldn't have too
many left surely.
There are mites that eat epithelial cells, causing the lash to fall out
on a regular basis and that could be the cause.
Do a search for Madarosis - can be caused also by thyroid and other
metabolic disorders. Any hair loss elsewhere?

Re: Lashes in eyes
Dear Joy
You are a blessing.
His constitutional remedy is under the rubric 'eyelashes, hair falling from'
I got myself so worked up about the lash falling into his eye that I
overlooked the symptom that it must fall off the eye lid in the first
place!!
He seems to have plenty of lashes and has thickish eyebrows. No other hair
loss reported.
I am much obliged by your help.

Re: Lashes in eyes
Could this be connected to rubbing his eyes on sleeping or waking? Just a thought.
