Global paradigm shift in health care

Dear Jagannath,
Much as I am happy that a challenger to Homeopathy is
there, I am totally disappointed with Ayurveda - as it
is today. I have tried with the traditional and the
modern. The failure was palpable.

The bunch of medicines handed out, the substantial
bill etc are good for the doctor - not for the
patient. The tenents - Ushnam Ushnena Shanthi- and
Samam Samena Shanthi(which readily interest we
homeopaths)- are just forgotten words. Specifics are
the rule today.

I quote one ancient story- Jeevaka, a student of
taxila University (in Pakistan Now) and his co
students were told by their master to find one plant
each which had no medicinal property for the purpose
of their final graduation. Almost all the students
returned before evening. Jeevaka didn't. Days passed.
After, many weeks, Jeevaka returned, withered and sad.
He fell on his teacher's feet and cried, "forgive me
Guruji, I am not fit to be your student. All your
praising me in the past have been in vain. I have
failed in your last test. I could not find even one
plant without medicinal property." The teacher lifted
him up and hugged him. "Jeevaka, you are my true
student and a true vaid. You have passed the test.
There is no plant indeed without medicinal power."

That spirit is totally missing now. Many prescriptions
are made on diagnosis, fully forgetting the tridosha
analysis. Ayurveda and its sisters Siddha and Unani
fare no better. Unclean manufacturing practices are
another problem.

There are some who have stumbled across some truth and
who will take that to the grave.

A sad situation for a great tradition.
