What a very true observation (apologies to the much-missed Julian for the tautological use of 'very!).

As someone with long- term eczema on her feet I get really fed up with other therapists saying 'you should do something about that' or 'can't you get rid of that homeopathically?'
Even some other homeopaths seem to see it as indictment of the homeopathic treatment I have been receiving.
Meanwhile my homeopath seems to think it matters not at all.
I tend to agree that skin symptoms like this are indicators rather than the centre of the case but I for one would prefer not to have them.
I know the more central problems have to improve before we should congratulate ourselves too much, but as we can never totally heal someone on all levels this is also one hell of a get-out clause.

As a therapist, I would regard it as a success story if someone came to me with eczema of the feet and left without it and might even write up the case. Successful treatment of eczema is one of the things we do.

On reading this it all sounds quite like a pro-suppression stance, which is not how I feel at all. After all, I have hung on in there myself for years and do actually believe that skin eruptions can help maintain the balance whilst more pressing matters are being dealt with, but there *is* quite often an element of double think within our own profession as well as the wider circle of 'holistic' therapists.
