Nosodes
*******
'Nosodes' is a materia medica course written by Dr
Ardavan Shahrdar. You will study the materia medica of
10 important nosodes (Carcinosicum, Psorinum,
Medorrhinum, Tuberculinum, Bacillinum, Syphilinum,
Pertussinum, Variolinum, Lyssinum, Scirrhinum). It is
actually not only a materia medica course. The
attractive quizzes greatly improve your skills of
repertorization and differential diagnosis not just
about the nosodes but also other related remedies. All
the symptoms are accompanied by their repertory
rubrics to enable you to use the materia medica
efficiently in your daily practice. You will study
related cases from pioneers, samples of original
provings and famous materia medicas.
Nosodes course is organized in 60 lessons.
Let's see samples from lessons (Lesson 2 of
Carcinosinum and Lesson 36 of Tuberculinum)
Lesson 2
Carcinosinum - Mental Sphere
****************************
In this lesson we are going to study the main mental
features of Carcinosinum.
*Perfectionism*
Carcinosinum patients are perfectionist persons.
Usually you can find out that the Carc patient has
experienced too many expectations placed on him/her.
These expectations are idealistic and is beyond the
power of the person to be accomplished with high
standards.
Look at the following related rubrics:
MIND - AILMENTS FROM - responsibility
MIND - AILMENTS FROM - domination - children; in -
parental control; long history of excessive - harsh
upbringing
MIND - AMBITION - increased
MIND - ANGER - mistakes, about his
MIND - CARES, full of - business, about his

MIND - DUTY - too much sense of duty
MIND - INDUSTRIOUS, mania for work - finish his work -
desire to
MIND - LONGING - good opinion of others; for
MIND - PLEASING - desire to please others - parents
MIND - USEFUL; desire to be
*Fastidious*
Now, it is not surprising to know that Carc patients
are fastidious persons. This is also a result of being
perfectionist in all aspects! The fastidious nature of
Carc patients is like Arsenicum album.
Rubrics:
MIND - FASTIDIOUS
MIND - FASTIDIOUS - disease; in
*Sensitivity to reprimends*
Carcinosinum patients are extremely sensitive to
reprimends. They are actually always reproaching
themselves for their own faults and cannot accept any
more reproach from outside! They are even averse to
kind admonition. This sensitivity makes them
obstinate.
Some related rubrics:
MIND - ADMONITION - agg. - children; in
MIND - ADMONITION - agg. - kindly; even

*Fear and anxiety*
Carc patients are full of fear and anxiety. Main fears
are fear of cancer, diseases, death, insanity, high
places, ghost and darkness.
Study the subrubrics of 'Fear' and 'Anxiety' where
Carc is present.
*Sympathy*
Carcinosinum patients are sympathetic and extremely
sensitive to other's sufferings and full of cares for
people and all living creatures.
Related rubrics:
MIND - SYMPATHETIC
MIND - SYMPATHETIC - animals; towards
MIND - CARES, full of - others, about
*Sensitivity to music, art and nature*
This is another important aspect of Carcinosinum. Carc
patients are sensitive to beautiful things, music,
arts and beauty of nature. They are romantic persons
appreciating high standards of beautiful aspects of
life.
Related rubrics:
MIND - ART - ability for

Quiz 2:
Study the following paragraph from Vithoulkas' MM Viva
and find all the related rubrics in your repertory.
'Fear of the rudeness of others is also frequent in
these Carcinosin patients of the first type. As their
defences are compromised, they feel unable to face the
aggressiveness of the world from the time they were a
child. Children of this type are submissive, well
behaved, easy to handle, over-adaptive. They appear to
be very kind, very obedient, very helpful. These are
the children that please their parents, though
intelligent and sensitive parents will see the weak
points in them and will worry and report this to the
doctor, because they understand that this kind of
submissiveness is 'not normal.' Carcinosin children of
this type cannot express their own demands toward
others, they cannot 'hold their own' at school with
other children. They also are unable to express what
they need and want from their parents, and therefore
they may also appear suppressed by them. This
behaviour is reinforced if the parents are actually
not aware of the particular sensitivities of the
child.'

Lesson 36
Tuberculinum - General Features
*******************************
In this lesson we are going to study the important
general features of Tuberculinum.
The main general features of Tuberculinum are:
- Weakness
- Emaciation
- Diminished or increased appetite
- Changing nature of symptoms
- Sensitive nature
*Weakness*
Weakness is the most prominent general feature in
Tuberculinum. If you have seen a TB patient, you
confirm this prominent weakness. This weakness is both
mental and physical.
GENERALS - WEAKNESS
GENERALS - WEAKNESS - exertion - slight; from
GENERALS - WEAKNESS - fever - during
GENERALS - WEAKNESS - nervous
GENERALS - WEAKNESS - walking - short walk - after a
*Emaciation*
Emaciation is almost always an accompanying feature
with Tuberculinum's weakness. Again remember a TB
patient with his/her apparent emaciated body. This
emaciation is esp prominent in the chest region.
GENERALS - EMACIATION
GENERALS - EMACIATION - accompanied by - weakness;

GENERALS - EMACIATION - appetite with emaciation;
ravenous
GENERALS - EMACIATION - children; in
CHEST - EMACIATION

CHEST - EMACIATION - Ribs
*Appetite*
Appetite is either diminished or increased in
Tuberculinum patients. The interesting point is the
presence of ravenous appetite with emaciation!
STOMACH - APPETITE - diminished
STOMACH - APPETITE - insatiable
STOMACH - APPETITE - ravenous
STOMACH - APPETITE - wanting - hunger, with
GENERALS - EMACIATION - appetite with emaciation;
ravenous
*Perspiration*
Perspiration is profuse in Tuberculinum patients. The
important point is the accompaniment of perspiration
with severe weakness.
Study the following related rubrics from Radar:
GENERALS - WEAKNESS - perspiration - from
perspiration; weakness
PERSPIRATION - COLD
PERSPIRATION - EXERTION - during slight
PERSPIRATION - COUGHING - from
PERSPIRATION - PROFUSE
PERSPIRATION - PROFUSE - night
PERSPIRATION - SLEEP - during
GENERALS - PERSPIRATION - during - no relief; gives
*Changing symptoms*
Tuberculinum patients experience a rapid change of
symptoms both in mental and physical spheres. You
have studied that there is prominent desire for change
in Tuberculinum patients. Their desire for travelling
is also a manifestation of this craving for change.
GENERALS - CHANGE - symptoms; change of - constant
GENERALS - CHANGE - symptoms; change of - rapid
SKIN - ITCHING - scratching - changing place on
scratching
MIND - LOQUACITY - changing quickly from one subject
to another
MIND - MOOD - changeable
*Sensitive nature*
Tuberculinum patients are extremely sensitive to all
external impressions; both mental and physical.
MIND - SENSITIVE
MIND - SENSITIVE - light, to
MIND - SENSITIVE - music, to
MIND - SENSITIVE - noise, to - slightest noise; to the
Although the rubrics are selected from the MIND
section they are not actually just mental symptoms.
Quiz 36:
Study the following paragraph from Vermeulen's
concordant Materia Medica and find the related rubrics
in your repertory:
'Tub. is indicated in renal affections, but caution is
necessary, for where skin and intestines do not
perform normally, even high potencies are dangerous.
In chronic cystitis, brilliant and permanent results
[Dr. Nebel, Montreux]. Of undoubted value in the
treatment of incipient tuberculosis, esp. adapted to
light-complexioned, narrow-chested subjects. Lax
fibre, low recuperative powers, and very susceptible
to changes in the weather. Patient always tired;
motion = intense fatigue; aversion to work; wants
constant changes. When symptoms are constantly
changing and well-selected remedies fail to improve
and cold is taken from the slightest exposure. Rapid
emaciation; 2 & good appetite. Of great value in
epilepsy, neurasthenia and in nervous children.
Diarrhoea in children running for weeks, extreme
wasting, bluish pallor, exhaustion. Mentally deficient
children. Enlarged tonsils. Skin affections. Acute
articular rheumatism. Very sensitive, mentally and
physically. General exhaustion. Nervous weakness.
Trembling. Epilepsy. Arthritis. When critical
discharges appear, sweat, polyuria, diarrhoea,
exanthema, repeating the dose only when crises come
on.'
