mineral discussion
Hardly anyone has replied to the question of which mineral group to do
next. My own thoughts would be to look at the groups either side of
group 8 (7 and 9) and possibly pick out similarities or connections and
then work outwards likewise looking at the 2 groups either side of the
previous 2 groups, in other words working outwards from group 8 which,
for some reason, became our nucleus group.
I would like to write something but I need to find the time so a
consensus of choice, whichever group it is, would be welcome.
Best wishes, Joy

Re: mineral discussion
Nice job on the Group 8 Minerals. Very concise. I agree with your idea of
continuing with 7 and 9.

Re: mineral discussion
Thanks, Joy.
That's an excellent idea -- it would reinforce our understanding of the groupings in the periodic table.
Once we finished with the grouping 7-9, my suggestion then would be to go to another grouping with which we will have had ample tantalizing contact by then, with the salts of remedies in 7-9: Groups 15-17. Study that group as elements, not specifically as part of salts. Then spend some time on understanding and maybe studying cases that required the individual remedies contrasted to those that required salts composed of a mineral from 7-9 combined with one from 15-17. Then it would make a lot of sense to go back to Group 1-3, and we'd understand many of the salts of that group better for having studied the ions with which they most frequently combine. In addition, we'd have a good sense of the implication of occurring as anions on the left side of the periodic table for the nature of our most common mineral remedies.
I think we share a common goal in wanting this project to enhance our depth of understanding of the placing in the periodic table of our various remedies.

Re: mineral discussion
Dear Rosemary, so if Annemarie agrees and no-one else suggests anything
else it would be 7 and 9, then 15 and 17, then 1 and 3.
Any numeroligist amongst us will have fun with that I am sure.
Also, it might be of interest if Rosemary hasn't mentioned it, that
when I was trying to send her my write up for group 8 (which contains
Plutonium) it kept coming back and she was unable to receive it because
the message was considered "dangerous" by some cyberspace dictator. We
ended up having to scrub the word plutonium from the subject heading
and resort to code. Hee hee, that's Plutonium for you

Re: mineral discussion
Yes, basically that was my thought, but since 7-8-9 was a triad, I was thinking in triads for the other groupings as well -- 15-16-17 and 1-2-3 (although most of our interest would be in 1 and 2, in terms of known remedies). For what it's worth. Rosemary

Hi Rosemary, Joy
Would be fine by me, specialy studying the remedies from 15-16-17 as
individual remedy.
Seeing what is the role of Oxyde in the pictures of Ars, Alum and
Sil for example

Re: mineral discussion
Sounds good to me too. Could we be a little more precise about how a student with little experience could be more than a reader of your work. Like hand out some little mundane pieces of work that need to be done anyway. I have the extensive seminar notes on Mangialavori's talk about Sil and the structural elements. Maybe I could summarize that for the project.
