suppression of hemorrhoids

Hi Group!

Wondering if any of you have input or experience on surgical removal of hemorrhiods and whether that is construed as a suppressive treatment.

I seem to recall some patients whose general health worsened as a result of hemorrhoidectomy, but am unsure if it was directly related or coincidental.

Hi Terry,
Yes, any surgical treatment that takes away symptoms is suppressive. The
vital force is choosing hemorrhoids to try to dissipate the disturbance and
taking away that outlet will force the disturbance to come out in another
way, and often a more serious symptom

I don't know about suppressive, but most of the time it's extraordinarily uncomfortable, not terribly effective long term, and, yes, potentially threatening to long-term health. I actually know personally two people who've had horrible after-effects (one died, and one had to have a colectomy.). That seems like a pretty high number of people for one person to know with severe results from what is supposed to be "minor" surgery. It makes me suspect that it's worse surgery than they let on. I don't know anyone who has told me they had had this surgery and that it actually was a big help to them.

If the hemorrhoids are internal, and they do the "rubber band" thing to atrophy them, apparently that is relatively harrmless and effective.

Otherwise, I'd strongly advise people to use homeopathic, nutritional, and/or herbal treatments for this condition.

In some cases emergency surgical care is required to take care of the physical problems that currently exist. It is not a 'treatment' since it does not address the cause. However, as Julian would say - sometimes you need to put out the fire before working on the house. I would expect the general health to worsen if the original health problems that caused the condition were not addressed and resolved.

I've read that one cause (don't know if there are others) of hemorrhoid
trouble is liver congestion, and that therapies to strengthen and/or
"drain" the liver (could be homeopathic, herbal, or other "cleansing"
approaches) will relieve hemorrhoids. This would seem to me a far
better approach--more about heeding the message, and less about
shooting the messenger!

Shannon I thoroughly agree with you.
Merely to attack the haemorrhoids with surgery does nothing to address thereason they ocurred in the first instance. Attention to diet - not just type of food, but also fliud intake, is going to be benficial - and then to support the liver and gut by appropriate remedies - drainage looks like a good approach.

Hi everybody

I am at home recorvering from a hemorroidectomy. The Pain!! The
surgeon removed 5 - 2 internal and 3 external. The reason was:
thrombosis and bleeding. It was an emergency. At the moment I have to
keep my stool very lose and have to "go" every hour. After that I
take a hot zitzbath to wash and ease the pain.

I don't know what to say. If I had known it would have been this
painfull I would never have considered the op.

I just pray that the would would heal soon and that I will never have
to go through this again. It is hell!

Hi Anton,

Sympathies!!! In case it makes you feel any better--if it was an
emergency, then you simply did what you needed to do... Gotta use the
tools available, in time of need!

But a remedy should be able to help the healing and the pain.
Staphisagria is the first-thought for injury to a sphincter; hypericum
is specific to: 1. nerve injury; 2. injury to nerve-rich areas (which
that whole area is!); and 3. injuries that are "excessively painful".
If the pains are shooting or lancing in nature, I'd try hypericum
first, and if not... um, I'd love to hear others' thoughts. But one
or the other ought to help, I'd think!

Next step should be to get constitutional treatment if possible (are
you working with a homeopath? I should have asked that first!), and
try to address any liver and digestive issues--good luck!!
