At first I thought it would be a regulatory freight train that
would be used against homeopathy. Now I'm down to a Lionel (toy train)
with a fly swatter attachment. We could stop the whining and pay a
university to come up with a mathematical model that would be used to
prove, once and for all, homeopathy to the scientific mainstream. That
done, the medical establishment will take over homeopathy and pretend
it was theirs from the start--most of Hahnemann's associates were
medical doctors, after all. Boenninghausen and Korsakov could be
explained away as, what, renaissance men. Tradition or not, lay people
would probably be banished from the profession. Sorry about the
pessimism.

You are absolutely correct. Having a family member who is a big shot at one
of the massive drug companies (don't you love irony?), he has informed me
that this witch-craft we do will never be accepted unless 1) one remedy will
work for a multitude of people with a defined disease, 2) one remedy will work
for only one disease, and 3) there is a huge profit to be made marketing the
remedies which must be patented.
As for the AMA, you bet they will drive out laypeople and non-MD
practitioners. This is an artificial status profession. I walk a very thin line with
homeopathic treatment as malpractice would not cover a disgruntled patient who
decides to sue. Quickest way to lose a license is to be accused of dabbling
in "alternative" therapies, being a quack, and then causing a patient harm.
I can amputate the wrong leg and malpractice will pay off and call it a
mistake. Give a patient an herb or remedy without the blessing of FDA (and the
reaction is serious enough) and I can kiss by butt goodbye.
And don't forget the legal profession. How would they gather enough people
for a class action suit? Who would they sue?
Homeopathy would do well to fly under the radar for now.

accepted by the orthodoxy - so why are we trying to get them (THEM) to
accept us?

We should stop dancing to their tune and push homeopathy for

Actually shouldn't the necessary type of research be done by the
Homoeopathic hospitals and clinics around the country?
The advantage is that they are all medics and other medics should listen to
them more than us lay homoeopaths. after all what do we know?

I think who ever is doing the research from whatever angle should get
agreement from a recognised entity - eg SoH - about the details of the
experiment. This has the advantage that it is more likely to give a
meaningful result and hopefully there would not be arguments about bias.

You are most correct, but unless we have the financial backing and the
political clout we can't begin to challenge the immense powers that are currently
in charge of the medical world. The only real life scene I can imagine
happening is a revolt by patients tired of non-curing medical care, the great
expense of treatment, the high cost of medications, and becoming enlightened to
the value of homeopathy.
But folks are caught in the allopathic model. Run to the doctor or hospital
for treatment that is paid for by insurance. They pay a few dollars for a
co-pay for treatment and medication. It is so easy to use the allopathic
model.
What we need are homeopathic hospitals and clinics. We need to educate
people about homeopathy. We need to be accepted by insurance companies. We need
free clinics in the inner cities and in rural communities to treat those
whom don't have access to allopathic medical care. Though this is really rare
considering the medical assistance programs in most states. The poorest of
the poor, the homeless, and isolated minorities are those who would use these
free clinics. When the very poor (or the very rich) adopt a method of healing
that actually works, the vast middle class will quickly follow suit. The move
we must make is political. We have the "proof" homeopathy works, what we
need is the blessings of the politicians who dole out the money for clinics,
research, and have influence over the insurance companies.
Or we need a wealthy champion who is willing to dump the money into
homeopathy. Someone with enough political clout to exact a change of public opinion
about health care, overcome the lobbyists, influence voting blocs, tackle the
AMA. It could be done. But it will get ugly. Just setting up a system to
administer such a change is daunting.
But it could be accomplished. We'd have to meet them head to head.

well, eating dinner with the 'enemy,' so to speak, certainly
gives you a particular perspective. and that family member
is correct from his paradigm. however, my thinking is that your
family member is not who we want to convince. i feel we are
attempting to make our views and experience public for the
general public. our strategies have to work towards that end.

I wonder if we collected assessment forms from our clients after a
few visits and there was a body who could examine these would some
worth while statistics be obtained.
We really need some vocal support from our clients.
I say after after a few visits as there are a proportion who simply do
not like the process of exploration. and it really requires time to
