Hi Theresa,
I think of a nosode (tuberculinum ?) because of the
midline congenital defects,(kidney, ureters,
birthmarks are all midline), problems with
constipation (bowel being midline) hairy body, long
eyelashes and chronic problems this child has had
since birth.
Family hx of allergies and urinary tract problems also
suggest miasms.
I think something in terms of a deep-acting remedy
would be of value.
The MD's will keep her on antibiotics as thats the
only thing they know to do to keep her infection-free.
If she gets a kidney infection from reflux, stagnant
urine it could be very dangerous.
Best wishes,
JoAnn Jarvis
Dear All, here is the second online case provided by
Theresa. I hope you
find it interesting and can be of help. Please post
your replies to the
group so we can all share them. This case will run
until the end of
November, when another case is lined up. Best wishes,
Joy Lucas.
Online Case Presentation of J.K.
All notations in quotes were made by the Mother.
Female, 7 months old, warm temperature, "fussy,
restless, whining, crying
and wakes many time per night" (this is also the
Mother?s chief complaint),
nursing (4)"actually she doesn?t
really nurse she just
wants my breast as a pacifier", > being rubbed,
cuddled, kissed, held,
rocked and carried, "needy, wants to be rubbed in the
middle of the night,
needs to know Mom is there then she is a happy baby",
up until 5 months of
age she would only wake twice in the night (3a.m. and
6 or 7a.m.) is
currently teething, born caescerian, Mother was in
natural labor, did not
dilate and the baby "was in the right position but
didn?t drop, when they
cut me open she actually moved up really high in my
body as if to get closer
to me", Strawberry looking birthmark on occiput
(large) and sacrum (small),
"looked like a monkey had hair on her shoulders, back
and butt", long eye
lashes, coryza, birth weight 8lbs. 9 oz., 21 inches
long, currently still a
big baby- in the 90th percentile of weight. Lives in a
wealthy suburb of
Detroit, Michigan, USA, with cool fall temperatures
these days.
Presenting complaint: Double collective system, reflex
in the urinary track?
she was born with 2 ureters on the right side, urine
goes back up one of
these back into the kidney. Doctors put her on
antibiotics at age 2 months
old. They want her to remain on them until she is 4
YEARS old (!) so as to
prevent getting kidney infections. They say that she
may grow out of the
reflex problem at that point or they will operate.
At this 8 week old age she "felt hot and had a fever
of 38 or 39 for a
couple of days, everything else was normal, she was
happy, not irritable,
playful with the Doctors and nurses". So Doctors gave
her antibiotic shots
for 3 days in a row and found out about the 2nd ureter
on the right. A
questionable piece here is that at one point the
mother said that this fever
came on after the baby?s second round of vaccination
shots. Then at another
time she denied it saying the fever was from the
urinary tract infection,
and the third time she said she did not remember if
the second round of
vaccinations came before or after the antibiotic
shots.
In general: cries if a stranger comes except if she is
on Mom?s lap, and if
brother (almost 4 years old) "who loves her to death"
comes too close. She
really likes people, gets happy around children.
Anger and screams if she
hurts herself. I observed qualities of her being
present, curious, content,
sweet, soft, gentle, stable, strong. "She is fussy in
the evenings, >
morning after sleeping and after her two naps in the
day she is happy."
"She?s not shy and she is very nosey, anything she
hears she has to know
what it is". Constipation for two days if does not
eat fruit like prunes or
applesauce. Stools are normal now with having some
solid food, when breast
fed only, the stools were seedy, yellow liquid. Loves
to go outside as long
as mother is carrying her or can see Mom from the
stroller. Not much thirst,
nose congested, sleeps on her back only, no
perspiration of head or feet.
Mother was on no medication during pregnancy, took
vitamins, had three
urinary tract infections in two years prior to
pregnancy, which came on
after sex. Had challenges with asthma and bronchitis,
allergies to dogs.
Maternal grandmother had lots of kidney infections.
Paternal grandmother
asthma.
Prior to her first appointment with me, on October 19,
2001, mother had
given her Cham 30c for the "fussiness" and "it didn?t
work".
RX: Puls 200c, one pellet.
Follow up phone report: She was up all night for three
nights, wakes even
more, only sleeps in Mom?s arms, not eating much,
screams if Mom leaves the
room, wants to be nursed. Then she was "suddenly
better for about 10 days,
only waking twice per night and not as fussy". Began
getting worse again in
the past week (around November 6). She has been
teething still, two more
new ones just coming out now in the front and side.
Mother chose to
discontinue antibiotics around October 30th, 2001 yet
fearful of her
developing a UTI due to reflex problem.
It would seem that the aggravation from beginning
dentition is the cause of
her waking so frequently, as she only woke twice in
the night until she was
5 months.
I?ve been considering repeating Puls. Also, I?ve been
looking at Carc (and
maybe Tub) because of the family respiratory and
allergy issues, as well as
her hairy body as a baby, nevi and possible ailments
from vaccinations.
I would like some coaching on remedy, potency and
dose.
ALSO, would you make ANY CHANGES in these suggestions
if the Mother puts the
baby back on antibiotics? My primary concern and the
reason for this post,
is regarding the issue with the double collective
system, second ureter and
reflex in the urinary track. It seems outrageous to
have her on antibiotics
for four years or for the parents to be continually
worried about urinary or
kidney infections.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Theresa Laehn

Re: case study #2
Dear JoAnn,
How interesting about the midline concept. I have not learned about that.
Can you share with me where I can learn more?
Sincerely,
Theresa
