online case TL/Nov.02
Dear Theresa,
Have you considered THUJA? - briefly.........
acts chiefly on the mucous membranes of the genito-urinary tract,
intestines, skin, mind, nerves, glands, occiput (phatak)
loves to be rubbed, always >>>
nervous at the approach of strangers
skin is hairy - luxuriant growth of hair
naevi
N.B.W.S. vaccinations
asthma nearly always figures somewhere in the picture (even if it is
grandparents)
I agree with Soroush it would be useful to have some more info about the
urinary pattern.
However if you feel that you will repeat the Puls. I don't think necessarily
that changing the potency will make any difference. If the 200c did good
work then repeat if you are convinced this is the correct Rx.
The A/B could have stopped the good work of the remedy and the energy taken
up with the problems of teething could also have had an effect. These things
need to be considered before repeating.
If you have a good relationship with the parents I would suggest you spend
some time educating them about Homoeopathy and convince them to completely
stop the A/Bs. Any infection, if it occurs can be treated with Hom. remedies
as you well know, but you need to convince the parents. However it has to be
their choice in the end.
Personally I hope that with the correct Rx there will be no infection and
the extra organ (not needed) could shrivel up and not cause any problems -
who knows.
Hope this has been useful.
Best wishes, Joy Lucas

Re: online case TL/Nov.02
Dear Joy,
Thanks for your input on this case. It's all so helpful.
I tell you I am certainly taking a look at Thuja now that I have more
information on the vaccination history.
It's beautiful to see the benefits the Puls did have, although short lived,
with the effects of the A/B, dentition, and subsequent vaccination!
I feel pretty confident I have the Mom convinced to continue the avoidance
of the A/B and now the vaccinations... I'll talk with Dad when he gets back
to the states.
Thanks for the wish... we too hope that with the correct Rx there will be no
infection and the extra organ could shrivel up (how cool is that!
) and
not cause any problems!
Do you have any suggestions on potency and dose?
Sincerely,
Theresa

Dear Theresa, I have been reading the posts re: your case. Very interesting,
can you tell us more about the urinary tract infection - how did it actually
show itself with symptoms in the child:- fever, reaction to pain, body
movements, urine state and type - any changes, what >>> and <<

Re: online case TL/Nov.02
Dear Joy and others,
I finally was able to reach the Mother and she did not have anything new to
report about JK's initial urinary tract infection. As mentioned before...
"At this 8 week old age she felt hot and had a fever of 38 or 39 for a
couple of days, everything else was normal, she was happy, not irritable,
playful with the Doctors and nurses". Mother said she was astonished to
find out that JK had this infection because she did not notice any other
changes in her sleep, eating, moods, etc.... she just felt hot. The next
day when she was put in the hospital on A/B I.V. she got a higher
temperature (not sure how high) at night and was not as hungry or happy.
Then by day 2 on the I.V. she was eating normal, the temp went down and she
was happy again.
About treating the mother... yes, based on her state when she initially
called I suggested we treat her first. So they both had an appointment the
same day. As mentioned originally she had "three UTI's in the two years
PRIOR to the pregnancy", she did not have any during the pregnancy. At her
initial session with me she was given Sepia 200c after which for two days
she felt tired and worn out, then day three she was "full of energy and was
catching up with house work, not as overwhelmed, and more relaxed." One
month follow up..."I feel patient, good, and full of energy. I am amazed at
how patient I am, especially for being awakened so much by the baby. Sepia
is really my remedy". Still breast-feeding and menses began one month to
the day after Sepia.
The baby is still having difficulty staying asleep. Goes to bed at 7pm
falls to sleep for 10 minutes at a time after nursing then wakes again...
this goes on for one hour. Then it happens again at 12 and especially at 3
o'clock. She is still teething, is now hotter in the evening on falling
asleep, her whole head is hot with no perspiration, has red cheeks which go
away in the night. Still off the A/B. Constipation is better with yogurt. I
wonder if she is naturally constipated or if it is just a result of the many
months on A/B???
Apparently now there is an appointment for her on December 6, 2001 for the
urologist to catheterize her, fill the bladder, and do radiation to see if
the reflex is still happening, if it has improved some, or gotten worse. At
which time he may suggest surgery to be done soon.
Thanks to all of you who have contributed to this. I will be seeing her on
the 27th, so if any of you have anything else you would like to share or
suggest... all is welcome.
Sincerely, Theresa

Re: online case TL/Nov.02
Dear Theresa, thank you for this update.
Does the teething need treating? Is this what is keeping her awake at night
or is this the same sleep pattern as before? What is she like when she wakes
and is there anything that seems to be waking her?
Babies are naturally hot so is she hot only in the evening? Is it just the
head that is hot? Are the cheeks red because of the teething? What is her
temperament like with the teething. Constipation > yogurt but what is the
pattern of bowel movement and what are the stools like?
Well done with the Sepia - how do you feel you should go forward with this
case. If the child is happy it doesn't seem right to treat. The constipation
might continue because of the A/b - I would give that a while unless it is
painful or causing distress. This might be her natural sleeping pattern and
again unless she is unhappy or discontented we shouldn't interfere. Wanting
cuddles or being rubbed in the middle of the night isn't such a bad thing -
it depends if it is inappropriate or out of balance etc.
I look forward to further comments.
Best wishes, Joy Lucas

Re: online case TL/Nov.02
Hi Joy,
Yes, the teething does need to be treated. She was only waking twice during
the night before to be nursed and to make sure Mom was there and then would
sleep well. After that Puls remedy Mom said she was only waking twice in
the night like before. Now she just needs this reassurance more frequently
at night otherwise she screams & cries. When she awakes she wants Mom,
wants to be held, rubbed, kissed.
She is naturally warm, but the red cheeks just came on in the past couple
days, and a large tooth has been cutting through now too. Her temperament
is not all that different with the teething except for wanting Mom even more
in the night and waking. As long as mom is around the life is grand.
Interestingly, I learned today from a body worker that was here who works on
the mother.... That the Mother was taken to a homeopath as an infant to get
her kidneys working (?). I knew that JK's grandmother had kidney infections
while pregnant with JK's mother. I'm hoping that surgery won't be
recommended any time soon so we can give things a chance to work.
Thanks again.

Re: online case TL/Nov.02
Dear Theresa,
If you are intending treating the teething I am thinking is she CHAMOMILLA?
Inflamed gums, one cheek red the other not, screams with it, >>> being
carried, very iritable etc
But I am also thinking SULPHUR - red, hot, teething, <<< night, <<< in bed,
sleeps in cat naps, wakes screaming, wakes frquently, wakes 3.a.m. (bold
type) and incidentally Sulph is <<< vaccination. What are her movements like
in bed - does she draw up her limbs (sulphur), or is she restless,
stretching out, rocking etc???
Hope this helps, Joy

Re: online case TL/Nov.02
Dear Joy, Soroush, JoAnn and others,
Thank all of you for your contributions to this case. It was and will
continue to be helpful as I work with JK over time. I'm especially looking
at Thuja, Tub, and Sulph.
I saw her November 27th, 2001 and was planning to give her the Puls 200c
again. I had mentioned this to the mother so she went ahead on her own and
gave JK a dose of Puls 30c which she had at home on November 21th and a dose
on November 22nd. No changes were noticed after the first dose. After the
second dose the mother said she was not as clingy or whiny, more content,
and only woke three times in the night to nurse and slept great in between.
This lasted three days then on the 25th and 26th she started waking a lot
again and being fussy.
Rx: Puls 200c It worked well the first time. We will see its duration
this time with no additional A/B or vaccinations.
JK is generally more whiny, whimpering, and crying than irritable and
screaming since she started dentition. Before that mother said "she was the
most content baby you can believe". Both of her cheeks get red on falling
asleep and the whole head is hot with no perspiration. During sleep there
is not much movement at all, she will turn her head, whimper and nurse. If
awake in the bed then the movements will start with arms & legs to get mom.
She sleeps stretched out..."she needs more room" than the mother.
Mother is also going to postpone for a few more weeks the testing with the
urologist. She also said they have just decided to move back to Germany in
February 2002.
With great appreciation for all of your consideration!
Best of Health,
Theresa
