Depression at ovulation- Update
Patient did brilliantly on one dose Kali carb 200 last month. No problems last month. I haven't repeated as we want to see what happens this month. She is on day 11 at the moment.

I gave her Kali Carb 200 and she had no problems last month. I am hoping that it will hold this month.

Re: Depression at ovulation- Update
Dear Rachel,
I'm interested in this case as I'm seeing a new patient with a very
similar complaint. In this case the patient has anxiety and depression
around the time of ovulation that has been severe enough to make her
leave her job. She insists that she is not ovulating regularly and
that the depression symptoms are much worse on the months she doesn't
ovulate. No discernible pattern to this however. She has been
suffering with this since being on the pill. She was fine during both
of her pregnancies, although the symptoms have aggravated after each
birth. I've started her out on folliculinum. She was marginally better
after the first remedy, but thought she had ovulated. I'm going to
give it a few months -- I'll keep you posted.

I'm afraid the answer to this is to come off the pill or at least change it for another one. However re reading your post maybe she is ff the pill in which case Foll should do the trick. I tend to prescribe Foll to be taken at the time of ovulation as Melissa Assilem taught us. My patient only started with her depression when she came off the pill!!

Rochelle--
Thanks for the response. She IS off the pill now -- thus the
folliculinum. I have tried to prescribe at the time of ovulation,
although that is eratic. She has lots of relief from natural yam-based
progesterone creams. What do you think of that?

Isn't it more of an herbal approach?
Sure it's not curative in the way that a "deep" remedy *can* be, but I
wouldn't see any reason for her not to do it *while she needs it*,
would you ?

Re: Depression at ovulation- Update
The other question I have about the natural progesterones is this: My
understanding is that folliculinum is more of an estrogen based remedy
-- i.e. the follicle is released at a point of maximum estrogen. If
she is being ameliorated by progesterone, where does that leave us
regarding folliculinum?
