PC Remedies - Homoeopathic? - venus

Post by Chris Wilkinson »

Hiya folks,

Someone told me venus had been mentioned here so I had a peek.

Venus is as solid a proving as any other, the write up just isn't
finished yet. I'm getting there though! I didn't know what would come
from the venus proving before it began. What seems to be the case is
that it is a combination of
1) the dynamic process of making it ie light from a distance and the
telescope
2) probably (and by far least expected) the actual dynamic properties
of venus as a planet ie a calm exterior (the clouded aspect) and
underneath a very intense ball of hot, radioactive, volcanic,
inhospitable rock (to put it simply)
3) possibly, maybe 2) may also be related to some of the mythology of
venus

What I haven't looked at, and won't until I've processed the actual
symptoms, is the astrology. This may be interesting, but it certainly
is not where I was coming from in making it and don't wish at all to
allow it to affect the proving. The proving is "traditional". Suck it
and see ;-)

Just to counter one thing said below. The spaceyness is certainly one
strong symptom, but not the strongest nor part of the centre.
Lassitude and cramping/tension are far stronger for instance.

I agree about the reliability of provings being important and feel
that the process of what symptoms are finally chosen and why should be
far more transparent than it usually is. There is no reason to trust a
proving, either a new one or an old one. What we often have is a
collection of symptoms that probably are bona fide but there are a lot
of judgements about what is used for the final write up, and these
judgements are based on what? I think it's important to know, not
every last detail, but at least the significant judgements.

The difference between provings as was to what I hope is becoming more
accepted reminds me of the teaching I had as a student where there was
a tendancy to have those clean cases - remedy given, cure follows, end
of case. Now there is more honesty about the case process and the
uncertainty of our prescriptions. It's about our profession coming
into the light, coming of age and shedding the cobwebs. Dunno what
this has to do with PC remedies - will have to browse back through the
archives here and see what they are!

Chris,

This sounds fascinating! Where/when will we be able to find out more?

Hi Chris,
Which would relate to the relationship of Venus to Cuprum i.e cramping
(refer Pelikan - The Secrets of Metals)

That's all a little old, but I'll try and update it in a useful format
in the next week or two, and let you know.

The proving is in the new edition of reference works, and will be on
cara. The materia medica is what I'm working on, and the dreaded
rubric additions.

Interesting about Cuprum, hadn't thought of that. I'm still trying to
keep blinkered and just work with the proving info.

That's strange - Venus is not in my Cara and I have the latest edition. It is mentioned in the Rx list in Isis but there is no MM. There are no rep addition either. I will get onto David Wilke about it.

Right!! I read it the wrong way . I don't think there will be any more editions to Cara as everything is being put into the newer Isis.
