Hi Coleen,
This is the best place to buy books online:
http://www.hpathy.com/homeopathicmall/S ... efault.asp
Only Vermeullen and Roger MOrrisons' books may be available in fixed
places in the US.

Re: Buying books - international online book store for homeopathy
Just make sure you're Ok with freight charges and exchange rates before you check out. If they are ok, then it's a good place to buy a large range, but do the calcs and compare with local stores.
Some books may not be available. Some Indian publishers are given the rights to publish and distribute on their sub-continent because they simply can't sell things at 'normal' global rates. But they aren't supposed to sell outside their designated area as the authors are rarely paid for books sold on the Indian sub-continent. Homeopathic books don't sell in the numbers ordinary books do, so the poor author doesn't make much. It's admirable to be altruistic but they have to eat too. As Julian Winston discovered, the laws are quite different there too, so he couldn't do anything about his book being copied. I guess it's just an individual choice by the buyer really.
But there are lots of books out there now, it's a struggle to keep things informative without becoming overwhelming, but a good sign for homeopathy overall!!
Have fun.

Hi Elizabeth,
Interesting that you say so about the restriciton in the sale of book.
I'll check out with Dr. Bhatia. But I"m sure this does not apply to
most of the old books that we have all been using.
As I said, Vermeullens and Morrisons, Scholtons, etc would only be
available from specific publishers due to the above rules. They would
not be allowed to be advertized either on other sites/bookstores.
There is a spearate buying area of Non-Indians, and a separate buying
area for indians.
I"m sure he has worked out the differences in exchange rates and
freight charges into this distinctions.

Buying books - international online book store for homeopathy
Some books sold on The Indian area of the 'Mall' are not available on
the "World Mall" area. the reason as mentioned below - the
distribution restriction within the subcontinent.
But most of the older books are all available at competitive prices
at the link I provided earlier. For a student, it helps to save a
little.

Re: Buying books - international online book store for homeopathy
Quite right, Dr Leela,
All the old favourites are no longer subject to copyright and so are readily available, even so we may have lost a lot of homeopathic literature if the Indian publishers hadn't kept them in print.
Of course a link I give to students is www.homeoint.org where they have a lot of free books available for download. Not quite the same as holding a book, they often tell me, but an excellent reference source for assignments, or for any homeopath for that matter.
Most of the on-line bookshops will have an area advising of what's new so you can keep up to date.
Julian Winston mentions in "The Faces of Homoeopathic Literature" that one bookseller who began his business in 1988 with 75 titles has, in 1997, more than 800 titles on homoeopathy in his catalogue.
We (Similibooks) currently have over 1100 and we haven't finished yet, we are adding constantly. Good news for homeopathy indeed. You certainly don't need that many, a lot have similar material with a different "spin", but if you read all the oldies in particular, you get a wonderful picture of homeopathy, the people, the history, it develops into a huge tapestry of fascinating pictures. When you read a book, read it from cover to cover, there are always interesting things in the Introductions and Appendices.
Peruse enough so that you find which "spin" you resonate with and, for those you have them, fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride!! Whether its a book or a remedy you'll have a fascinating trip.
As Julian also says, "The best homoeopaths I know are those who read the books. They read, read, and read."
Best wishes, Elizabeth
