Re: carcinosin

Dear All,

Here are some notes on Carcinosin and I strongly recommend Bob Micklem's
compendium.

Dr Foubister did much of the work on carcinosin.

It is prepared from breast cancer, but can also be made from stomach,
bladder, intestines or lung cancer.

The closer the pathology is to cancer the less likely the need for
Carcinosin as a Rx

All 3 miasms are present.

Can present as someone somewhere between Phosphorous - Natrum Muriaticum -
Staphysagria - Aurum.

Often the result of a repression - skin conditions.

Often seen in children and much less often in adults (I have prescribed this
Rx a number of times and never to anyone over 18). When parents come with
their children you can see the control and suppression going on in front of
your eyes.

Some say very useful in Down Syndrome and Autism - briefly I think this is
because of the common trait of children with Down Syndrome to be ordered and
fastidious and because Autism has been linked to the grief of birth i.e. not
being born the natural way, so C. Section births can be responsible for
this. Possibly these children feel unloved (truly not loved?). This is open
for discussion.

It is a very sensitive remedy so give with caution.

A very British remedy, especially in affluent areas of middle/upper class
families. Other nations will follow suit.

Emotional control is a good starting point with this remedy. Children are
taught to control their emotions and love is given in a controlled manner,
e.g. nannies and carers, it is not overly expressed - the aim is to produce
a child which is self sufficient and controlled - the famous British 'stiff
upper lip.' Suppression will probably have taken hold by the age of 8.

There is a strong sense of duty, reliable, hard working and industrious
(this is how they were taught to be). They can be good leaders. Generally
nice, popular, serious and mature. They develop intellect rather than their
emotions. Can become aggressive because they are over-stretched mentally
with no balance of happy emotions. Love will have been shown in a material
way - toys etc. Apathetic states - need stimulation. Indecision - reluctant
to commit - selfish aspect. Desires to travel

Deep suppression of grief, can be introspective and bleak in outlook.
Subservient, martyrs, missionaries. Can be miserly and kleptomania can
develop. Fastidious, lives have to have order. Conformist, reserved. They
will conquer fears by suppressing them so you need to question them
carefully about this. Ritualistic behaviour. Sexually = unlikely to be very
passionate or even have many relationships - would never have affairs. They
don't like letting themselves go. They need to be in control and fear losing
that control. Some will become destructive (some say the Terrorist).

Can be NBWS suppression of grief and also glandular fever and whooping
cough, possibly blood transfusion (there is a tendency to easy bleeding).
Food allergies are present + Hay Fever = fussy eaters.

Physicals = marked reaction to the seaside. Likes thunderstorms. Get H/A in
the open air though. Sensitive to both heat and cold.

H/O sore throats, always getting ill with coughs, colds, bronchitis etc.
Insomnia and disturbed sleep patterns. Weakness in sexual sphere < coition,
gets irritable because can't show emotions or let themselves go.

Eczema and psoriasis is common + mouth ulcers, + cracks on lips/mouth.
Asthma also common. Arthritis and muscular spasms and tendency to sharp
burning pains. Alternating Sx. Deep seated and throbbing headaches.
sensations of lumps anywhere.

Averse to eggs, fats, fruit, milk, salt food.
Desires chocolate, farinaceous food, fruit, milk, salt, sweets, vinegar.

Dreams of snakes, murder, journeys, work.

I often feel that you can see Carcinosin in so many people - it is a very
fused remedy - a remedy made up of many remedies. Perhaps this is why it is
quite a sensitive remedy and we should prescribe it with some caution.

Anyway I hope this is helpful. I will be sending an attachment, to those who
requested it, soon.

Best wishes, Joy Lucas

Dear people who requested the carcinosin notes/attachment. It will be coming
your way soon - so sorry for the delay but I have had a big system update
and not been online for a while, also very busy with clinics etc. Hopefully
before Xmas or soon after - promise. Plus it does include Tinus Smitts notes
on the Rx. The attachment will be sent privately only to those who requested
it and consists of about 25 pages so might come as 2 attachments.

Best wishes everyone however you celebrate this time of year. Joy Lucas
