Botulism is the issue. I suspect that the gut is more open in infants, or
perhaps there is less of a microbial diversity to interfere with the
clostridials, as infants are primarily populated with Bifidus. It would be
interesting to know if there was a difference in susceptibility between breast fed and
formula fed infants!
