Acute /Syphillitic - Down's Syndrome

Post by Elizabeth Flynn »

Hello Folks,
I wonder has anyone got information on the acute miasm that they may be willing to share. What remedies does it hold and are there any cases in the literature referencin the acute miasm? Is it something that turns up? Do people hold it or is it simply apart of acute disease cases?
Its for the treatment of a little girl with down's syndrome. Phosphorus is looking like a good remedy option but there is such a primitive nature to her reactions and character it makes me think of acute; it is a primal nature - no concept of sequence and events. Getting her attention is very difficult - she needs to be shocked into noticing that you are there.
I would greatly appreciate any information that would be out there - Acute Miasm and the treatment of Down's Syndrome - perhaps I am mistaking the acute for something more syphilitic

Kind Regards
Elizabeth

Alize Timmerman spoke on Tuesaday's radar lecture concerning "Homeopathic Care for the Last Stage of Life." She described the increasing separation of the effect of remedies on the mind and the body at the end of life. While the mind is positively affected by the remedy, the body deteriorates further, perhaps aggravated by the remedy. She says this happens with 10M and 50M too. To avoid this, she mentioned a potency that I could not clearly hear through the telephone line. I think I heard 40c. She is Dutch and perhaps I am not correctly hearing through the accent. 30c does not act this way she said. She could not be speaking of the centicimal system I suppose?? Did anyone else hear the lecture or can anyone guess what potency she was referring to? She said when she comes to the US, she wants to bring this potency, in case anyone is going to her upcoming SF seminar. The lecture brought me to a totally different way of thinking about the healing process. I wish I could go.
Blessings,
Ellen Madono

The acute miasm will nearly always be sudden and threatening. There will be
an intensity in the sx which in turn create a feeling of fear, danger,
impatience, restlessness - a need to resolve the situation and if this is
not possible a deep sense of helplessness takes over (like a flight or fight
decision has to be made) and if one succumbs to the acute miasm, if there is
no help or escape, then the prognosis would be pretty grim I imagine.

It is possible for the remedies that often fall within the acute miasm to
have a chronic state developing and it will be an extreme one - like
stretching an elastic band, it will only go so far.

How old is the child? You have to remember that having little concept of
sequence and events can be common enough in anyone who has Down Syndrome.
Getting her attention might have something to do with poor hearing. Lack of
reaction is the polar opposite of needing a shock so as to react.

If a child responds very well to stimulation and in fact craves it, i.e. it
is necessary, then this could also be the tubercular miasm (as you have
suggested Phos you will know this).

I have treated a number of children with Down Syndrome - take each and whole
case as it comes and be as open minded as possible. You don't always have to
understand a case from a miasmatic point of view.

Why not post more about the case if you feel inclined.

Best wishes, Joy

Phos would be a reasonable remedy for someone "not in their body". As you
described having to shock her back into focus. With what you've written, it
fits the "mind", now if it fits the physicals, you may have a match. You are
also correct that there is a primitiveness to the patient. Look at the "humors"
and choose where she fits (Phlegmatic, Sanguine, etc.)
