Their is bruising from an accident. Arnica is indicated and prescribed, the
pain and bruising soon disappear - Is that psychosomatic?
No - It is real 21 century medicine.

On the odd occasion that I have been asked whether homeopathy only really
works in psychosomatic disease, I have said that as far as I am concerned
the answer is yes. Not being a medium or a pathologist, these are the
patients I get.

psychosomatic?
Re: psychosomatic?
Lots of rx have bruising from accidents how do you choose Arnica over and
above any other rx often by the indifference to their state that usually
accompanies Arnica and thus a perfect illustration of a psychosomatic state
the interaction between physical body and mind.

Re: psychosomatic?
Well, just to be argumentative...
If someone gets into an emotional dither because of intense physical pain
(or whatever), or gets psychotic because of severe vitamin B deficiency,
drugs, etc.--surely those tell us that it cuts both ways! Yet we never hear
about "somatopsychic" diseases...
Yet IMO much of what is called "psychosomatic" is simply part of a more
generalized stress response, exhaustion on the part of those systems
responsible for maintaining homeostasis. Most would (in my experience and
from my reading on the physiology involved) probably be hugely improved by
(oh no, that phrase again!) adrenal support. There are many ways to
accomplish this, tho the best, IMO and when it is available, is the good ol'
simillimum.
I do think that calling an ailment psychosomatic is really a cop-out, not to
mention a put-down ("I don't know what's causing this, therefore it's all in
your head")... But back to its usefulness in our homeopathic literature, I
guess the term does tell us that there is no apparent infection, injury,
tissue change, or other identifiable "named disease" that's causing it, and
that is indeed useful information.
Cheers,
Shannon

Dear Joy
When I wrote "Arnica is indicated" I missed off 'for the case' - I did not
mean an automatic prescription!

Re: psychosomatic?
The curious aspect of Arnica is that the patient soon after the accident/fall etc. will say something like "I'm Ok, leave me alone". Other rx do not have this mental sx.
