Psychosomatic?

Can someone explain the meaning in h'th context of "psychosomatic"? Of
course I know that in "regular" vocabulary this means a physical ailment
from purely emotional causes, but I wonder whether in our literature it
bears the same meaning?

E.g. from Murphy's write-up on Cadmium: "Constitutions ... State of
psychosomatic, post-influenza exhaustion."

If it's post-incluenzal, why would it be called psychosomatic, and if it's
psychosomatic, why would it be limited to post-influenzal?

I would say that this pertains to post viral syndrome, especially the kind
of exhaustion that one encounters after such an ailment as Œflu and which is
often viewed as being of a psychosomatic origin by the allopaths.

So when I see the word used in rep or mat. med., should it *mean* anything
to do me, or should I just write it off as "I don't know the answer so there
isn't one" allopathic mumbo jumbo that's crept in?

this is good but has been used by the allopaths as a derogatory definition.
I was being too brief in my last post by implying that the inclusion of this
in the MM¹s just means the allopathic reference. It would depend on who
wrote it originally. I don¹t know how many times it appears in the reps or
MM¹s but I would tend to use it with its correct meaning.

Clarification : I guess I'm confused about a rubric specifically including interaction of emotional-mental-physical, because I thought everything basically works this way from a homeopathic perspective -- wondering how this was different.... Rosemary

Thanks Rosemary, that was my problem exactly!
I've always figured that (whoever the speaker) "psychosomatic" means "can't
figure out *why* it's happening!"

As I said I am not sure who placed the statement specifically linked to
Cadmium but as the reference is to this rx and more specifically with Œflu
then the emphasis is first with Œflu entering in on the bodily plane and the
psychosomatic exhaustion can come afterwards as in post viral syndrome. In
other words the emphasis changes as the illness takes hold. I think there
are a great number of rx and disease states that go through this passage.

I made the mistake of mentioning the derogatory use of the word
psychosomatic (often by allopaths) but of course it has so much value to us
as homeopaths in its true meaning of inter-action of body mind and emotions.

Perhaps others could express this better
