Re: developmentally arrested teen

Post by Rochelle »

I haven't repped this case and therefore may be right off the mark but as just an impression from the parts of the case I have highlighted below I wondered about Hyos. Are there ever any violent outbursts from this child or bouts of jealousy?

Regards
Rochelle

I asked the mother about his anger and she said he never gets angry.
Then she added "rarely". He is a very obedient kid. The most violent
thing he's ever done is stab himself with the pencil and his hand bled.
When he was pushing kids in kindergarten, it was his way of asking for
attention. He was not able to speak as well back then so he pushed to
express himself.

Hi Tamara,

I'm getting Carc, Hyos and Puls. coming up .. how badly did he get the
chicken pox? Is there a NBWS here? (The rank outsider in a rep is Bufo,
but I can't underline it except in your general description of him -
protruding tongue, etc.).

Good luck. :-) Barbara

Also Stram covers: convergent strabismus, handles gentals, causeless
laughter, hasty speech, "Cheerfulness, ... with dancinc, laughing, singing";
and fear of animals. Also seems to suit the nightmares and staring in
infancy, and the friendliness and affectionate behavior?

(Bufo also seems plausible to me, tho not sure if bufo would be so
giggly???)

The "rarely" could have useful information...
Can you find out, on those rare occasions when he *has* been angry, what
happened, what was the trigger, how did he express it, and what did he do
afterwards? (Remorse, indignation, as tho it never happened, or ??)

comes strongly to mind here?

Shannon: Carc. is one of the most sensitive constitutions. They are
very passionate and very repressed individuals. They don't like to fail
and will go to great lengths to make sure they don't make any mistakes.
There can be a history of domination (by parent, spouse, etc.). They
have LOTS of fears (heights, crowds, death, disease (cancer) animals,
thunderstorms, etc. etc.) The ego is very weak in Carc and they are
usually pleasers and peace makers. They will go to great lengths to
take care of everyone else. They care deeply about people and loved ones.
Tinus Smits describes Carc briliantly on his web site:

Dear Tamara, only just got round to reading this and thought I would send a
few thoughts.

Much of what you write about this young person with special needs is very
common to someone of that age group and with such special needs but this is
what I think is important to the case.

developmental delay

vision (cross eyed and drooping eye)

bronchitis, ear infections and eczema - you need more details of these even
though they were when he was younger

nightmares

hunger - is this excessive as you say he is 20lbs overweight + stealing food
from others

thirst + thirsty for cold

heat with sweat + clammy

bowel movements - 3 a day - this actually might not be part of what needs to
be cured as he is processing food quickly and this is good considering he
eats a lot - you need to know what the stools are like

tendency to hurry - when eating and talking

repeated actions - snapping fingers, sticking tongue out (the snakes
probably rep out), repeating questions - this is also common to children
with special needs and repetition is found in the sycotic range of rx and
also carcinosin - there is probably an 'over the top' request for him to
'behave' and thus a lot of controlling issues in his life and this is
probably why he asks about if he has behaved and why he is compliant, again
this is rational to a certain degree - it can also indicate a type of
stubborness and/or fixed ideas, i.e. the need to repeat

fears of animals, being alone and the dark - again these are so common to
children, even 14 year olds and especially those with special needs. What
substantiates this is that he has 'lost' his father, so some of these fears
and the need for attention are rational to this.

he hurt himself - this is just the one time but you could explore this
further to find out if it is relevant to the case.

You don't say if you have spoken with this young person. If not it is
essential that you do and also observe him and relate to him from his point
of view.

I think you also need more information to the case but overall I thought
Calc carb would be a necessary consideration. This child is needy - and
expresses this through food, liquid, speech, desire for touch and attention
- all this he will even try to steal or hurt himself if he cannot have.

Just a few thoughts, hope useful, Joy

Yep, sorry left out the Phos ... and Hyos is often an 'extreme' Phos...

Best, Barbara
