[H] Heartfelt sadness (off topic)

Discussion is essential (tho not necessarily here, sad to say) and emotion
is fine (not to mention inevitable), but it is so important that we keep
working on our skills of *listening* to each other. So much that passes for
"discussion" (both here and elsewhere) is actually more like "posturing"--
showing off our well-worn positions, so swept away by our own eloquence that
we can hardly be bothered to consider the other point of view. (I don't
pretend that I'm not guilty too...)

That said, "listening" to someone doesn't mean you'll necessarily wind up
agreeing with them. It also *has* to be okay to disagree about some things,
otherwise where's the freedom, and what was it worth...

to hear what there is in Bush's combat-related history that you find more

I have really said enough but, to end this, George Bush's military service
record is a matter of public record. He served during the Viet Nam war years
at a US national guard base in Alabama and possibly Louisiana and Texas
although I am not sure of the latter. He may or may not have gotten into the
guard via the influence of his father who was very well connected
politically at that time. In any case, he was certified as a US fighter jet
pilot which is not the kind of thing that a man whom his opponents love to
label as stupid would be able to do. He is, in fact, more intelligent than
Kerry as his military induction records will show. He is also a graduate of
both Harvard and Yale although many would disparage those achievements. He
is not in any way unintelligent but, is more likely to suffer from a mild
form of dysphasia owing to who knows what cause. It may be, perhaps, due to
his alcoholism and drug use as a young man which he has admitted to or, it
may be miasmatic. He is known for his "spoonerisms", that is the mixing up
of words and he often jokes about it. Please note that this is typical of
the remedy Causticum. He has spoken often of "compassionate conservatism"
and is truly a kind and caring person which is in keeping with that remedy
picture. He has been known to weep when giving speeches or when meeting
people who have suffered some sort of illness, accident or other misfortune.
He is genuinely sincere man, as is evident to all who will honestly observe
him. He is married to Laura Bush, who is known as a very kind, decent and
thoughtful person. Remember, birds of a feather flock together. Contrast
that with the suspicious, vulgar and mean spirited billionaire wife of John
Kerry and, if you honestly seek to know, you will realize the difference
between the two. George Bush has released ALL of his military records to the
public. John Kerry has refused to release any except those that paint him in
a flattering and positive light. He has been asked numerous times to do so
but, he has refused. Bush has been vilified by those who know nothing about
him simply for the fact that he is not a liberal democrat. The left in the
US would have everyone believe that anyone who is not one of them is
hateful, selfish, underhanded and mean when, if one honestly studies the
public record, the opposite will be found to be true and those who are
throwing the stones are the most underhanded of all. One must be honest and
open to see these things but, this is not the state of the electorate in the
country or in the world today. It is sad that it has come to this but, it is
not for lack of trying on the part of decent people in both parties. The
democratic party, however, seems to have been hijacked by the radical fringe
who believes that all things are fair and who will stop at virtually nothing
to advance their agenda. An honest person would look at what I have been
saying and vow to research it. A dishonest and prejudiced person would be
laughing and criticizing all the way through. What have you been doing up to
this point?

Do you mean to say that Julian is still sane for indirectly supporting the
likes of
Osama- bin Laden for holding to ransom all the civilized world.More over,
how can we enter into arguments over the rightful decision of any country's
electorate in choosing the President they want by peaceful means.
This uninformed criticism is all disgusting to say the least.

Dear Allen,
I hope if you hear from enough people debunking your point of view you will
be tempted to look beyond the news sources you have been relying on. There is
an abundance of information available (known by most of the rest of the
world) and skillfully hidden from us in the U.S. Our major media outlets have
failed us "big time." By the way, maybe you remember the whole CBS "60
minutes" controversy about the fake documents about Bush's military service. That
was a complete hoax. The documents have been now shown to be authentic but
the purpose was accomplished, enough people were fooled until after the
election. If you wish to follow up on this tidbit of information, please check out
the website of Mark Crispin Miller. Thank you Mr. Winston for your condolences.
Many people in this country feel shattered by the election results but we
have no choice but to brush ourselves off and try even harder.
