Digest Number 1763/lady fern

Post by Theresa Partington »

Athyrium Filix femina.
The (conventional) proving was done as part of a student project and I was
given a photocopy. I can't type it out but mentals include irritability,
poor concentration, indisposed to talk, mistakes in calculating, physically
active.
There are left sided headaches/migraines and loss of appetite with
distension and nausea at thought of food. Constipation or violent diarrhoea.
There are no Molluscum in this proving (fortunately for the provers!) and I
imagine my colleague originally prescribed it because she knew it well and
felt it fitted other symptoms. This would make the skin picture purely
clinical in derivation. According to George Dimitriadis they will have
therefore no place in materia medica or repertory......and should therefore
not be the basis for a prescription. Seems a bit harsh as I am not quite
sure how much one should expect lumps and bumps to appear in provings.
There doesn't appear to be an older proving of this, only one of the male
fern felix mas.
The variations in spellings of felix/filix are not mistakes.
