scallop/Pecten jacobaeus Case

Post by Lynn Cremona »

Asthma
Pecten jacobaeus (Scallop)
Case

A case of asthma presented the following symptoms:
Humid asthma, quick laboured breathing; cannot lie in a recumbent
posture; cannot lie on left side; sense of constriction in chest, particularly
the right side; the attacks are preceded for two or three days by sneezing
and excessive coryza; burning sensation in throat and chest; fulness of the
head;
pulse very quick and wiry, subsequently, copious expectoration of tough,
stringy, and frothy mucus; cough worse after 6 p.m. ; symptoms worse
towards night. Arsenicum did not relieve. Pecten, M and C M quickly and
permanently cured the whole group of symptoms.

Note by Dr. Swan.-
Some time since I learned from a gentleman that every time he entered a
room where scallops (Pecten) were being opened, he had such a severe attack
of asthma that he had to leave or suffocate. Acting on this suggestion, I
potentized
the scallop, and have used it with marked success. There has as yet been no
detailed
proving. It has thus far been applied to humoral asthma, from the loose
rattling condition
of the respiration and cough.

Sorry folks I hit the send button before completing my previous e-mail

The information I sent was for Pecten jacobaeus not Venus mercenaria that
the thread was addressing. I wanted to add something on another little
known remedy from the same family.
