nails

Nail that lift up at edges - are these what is meant by spoon shaped. I am confused with the difference between convex and concave nails. Is this when you are looking down on them.

I have a patient where the white tips of the fingernails are extending down the sides whereas mine just go straight across. Her nails to look on them from the side are very flat. I am sure that this is an indication of a particular miasm but my Bannerjea notes aren't very clear.

Years ago when I studied with Michael Bouko-Levy he had an entire segment on
nails. The jist of the course was that whenever you have nails that are
irregular (such as the ones you describe) the Syphilitic miasm is involved.

Thanks Sarah - that's what I thought it was but just wanted to check. My notes said concave.spoon shaped,, paper thin, bending and tearing for syphilitic.
