first-aid for jaw pain

I was recently asked for first aid in the case of someone who had excruciating pain in his left lower and upper jaw. There were no clear modalities, he could not describe the pain itself, only that it was throbbing (possibly) and constant. He could give no concommitants. He said the pain was so bad it woke him in the middle of the night and "I didn't think I would make it through the night". He did not have fever. I gave him Aconite 30C and 200C as this was the only remedy I had on hand that seemed suitable at the time. I told him to try the potencies using plussing in water. Later he told me he'd taken the aconite but it hadn't helped him. He told me the first instance of the pain had happened after eating something sweet at work, but also at his work good people were being fired for "political" reasons, which could be connected to an exciting cause.

This is somewhat threadbare but this is how I received the information. Does anyone have any other suggestions about this? In retrospect I was wondering if I should have tried Bell or Nux-V., also whether a dry dose is preferable to a dose in water in this kind of situation.
