Low and High Dosing -old discussion

Post by Maria Bohle »

Hi, sorry this response was so late, I was cleaning out old email and
found this digest.

Yes, if I change the 'amount' of the remedy you can reduce the 'impact'
of the remedy.

Re: skipping levels. I sometimes do this, and sometimes I don't. If
the client took to the remedy well, if the reaction was good but didn't
take them as far as I thought they could or should go, yes I will skip
the next level and move up faster. If the reaction was very good, as
well as could be expected, smooth moving, I will sometimes move up one
potency level or one level with very sensitive people.

Sometimes - and actually what I do may have much more to do with what
remedies I have on hand. I bought a hundred remedies kit from Natural
Health Labs in the LM 1 potency. From there, I make up the sucessive
potencies. So, if I have the potencies on hand already in higher LM
remedies, I am more apt to jump potency levels. For the ones I do not
have, the patient is more apt to get a LM 1, as I make up the next
remedies as needed.

(Not always, and I have spent an afternoon making up LM potencies when I
wanted to start with a higher number than what I had on hand.)

What is also interesting:
Franz Vermuelion seems to feel that some people resonat with the even
numbers of the LM dilutions and other people with the odd numbers. He
said if you give an LM remedy with 'no' reaction, try another potency in
the next even or odd sequence. I have not found that myself, but have
been trying to pay more attention to this detail.

Warmly, Maria

How interesting. You change the dose through dilutions succussions and
the aggravation is reduced. If the client is plussing the LM each time
he takes the remedy, when you go to the next LM level, do you go up by
two LM levels to take the succussions into account? Jeremy Sherr said he
did that.

I would agree with Vermeulen.

For some reason, I have almost no answer or even recurrences
with even LMs and good results with odd ones, to the extent
I now prescribe LM1 then 3,5,7....

Hello Everyone,

Over the last 20 years or so I have found that most people do just
fine on a series of ascending potencies like 0/1, 0/2, 0/3 but I have
noticed that some persons do seem to do better an odd or even number. They
may reacted very well to 0/1 but 0/2 does not act as well. When you go to
0/3 it acts well again. Perhaps, some do need 1. 3. 5, etc., while another
might need 2, 4, 6? Most of the time, however, I find that it is just one
or two potencies that don't act. For example, 0/1 acted, 0/2 did not, but
0/3 and 0/4 did just great. Usually the standard 1, 2, 3 works very well
and I would recommend starting this way. If the patient is atypical one
might experiment with the odds and evens. I have also noticed a difference
with the odd and even numbered succussions of the remedy bottle. If I want
a little more action I use odds. If I want a more smooth action I use evens.

In the Organon Hahnemann spoke of starting the LM potency with the
"lowest degrees" not "lowest degree". He did not always start with 0/1!
Hahnemann's opening potencies where between 0/1 and 0/6. Some people do not
do that well on 0/1 because it is not harmonic. This is one reason why one
has to move up through the potencies quickly or make skip a few degrees.
Most chronic cases start between 0/1 to 0/3 although there are exceptions.
Samuel once start a case at 0/21 as an experiment! That is like staring
with the centesimal potency in MM or something (?). It aggravated the
patient but then removed some stubborn symptoms.

Sincerely, David Little

Thanks, David.

That's a fascnating observation about some potencies of a remedy working and not others. I was taught that when a remedy stopped acting well, it was time to change it. And yes, there have been times when I was totally mystified when one potency seemed to have exhausted its action in a way indicating that it was tme to move up and the next potency up (e.g. 0/3 to 0/4) did absolutely nothing, and this with a remedy that had been working brilliantly and deeply. Now, thanks to your comment, I'll know to try a further potency before giving up.

Dear Rosemary, et al.

I have found that those using the dry dose exclusively often leave the
correct remedy because they think it no longer acts and must not be the
correct remedy. This is often not the case as the problem lies in the case
management strategies. Finding the correct remedy is only 1/2 the battle.
The other 1/2 is managing the posology adjustments and repeating the remedy
at suitable intervals, if needed. Many times it is a simple manner of using
the medicinal solution and adjusting the size of the dose, the number of
succussions given to the remedy bottle or the potency degree. This works
with the C and LM potency and can make the different between success and
failure.

Many times I have seen cases where another homeopath has found a good
remedy but they did not really know how to apply it. Giving the dry dose of
200C or 1M and waiting one month is not always appropriate. Sometimes, I
have taken the same remedy and made up a medicinal solution with a few
succussions and used the same potency and it acted wonderfully! Sometimes,
I changed from the C to the LM and it worked much better. Don't give up too
early! Leaving the correct remedy is one of the worst mistakes one can
make. It leads one off the path of cure never to return to the same point
again. The case often goes in spirals downward.

Do not leave a remedy that acted well so easily. Make sure you change
the delivery system (dry to liquid, oral to olfaction, etc.), adjust the
size of the dose (pills, drops, teaspoons, inhalations), adjust the potency
(number of succussions of the remedy bottle, X, C, LM, high, medium, low,
etc.), or the intervals the remedy is given (short, medium, long). This
often causes the remedy to act as well as it did at first. This is all part
of the reason Hahnemann developed his advanced methods in the 1830s and
1840s. It offers the homeopath many more options.

Sincerely, David Little
