Post by almonds1 »

How does one rep out a myxoid cysts just below the fingernail. Also,
eyes tear (lachrymate) and nose runs at bedtime (night) but ceases when client
gets to sleep. Third, trouble finding suitable rubric for squamous cell
carcinoma of the neck (right side). Appreciate any help.
Best rgds.

Hi George-
For squamous cell carcinoma-
it is better to concentrate on conditions that could cause it.
Squamous cell ca is common after XRay treatment, exposure to sun,
chronic skin irritation etc.
In Boericke under skin -= you have a rubric Ulcers- with sub rubrics-
cancerous which is appropriate.
All the sub rubrics will be useful based on the characteristics of
the ulcer/ carcinoma.
Refer also Epithelioma

In Knerr
under Tissues refer to rubric
Cancer- Refer to Epithelioma
also Melanotic

Tumors cystic in knerr under Tissues may be useful for the nails
myxoid cysts. You can probably refer to Colloid cysts instead of
myxoid

Hi George

Myxoid or Digital Mucoid Cysts, are benign ganglion cysts/tumors
They have been referred to under many names eg. cystomata, myxomatous
cutaneous cysts, myxomatous degenerative cysts, periarticular fibromas,
synovial lesions of the skin, periungual ganglions, mucous cysts, myxoid
cysts, synovial cysts, dorsal cysts, nail cysts, cystic nodules, digital
mucoid cysts, digital myxoid cysts, and digital mucinous pseudocysts.

In Radar you can find

GENERALITIES - PHENOMENA - TUMORS, benign - ganglia (RU) 54 rems
EXTREMITIES - PHENOMENA - GANGLION (in RU) 52 rems
EXTREMITIES - GANGLION
SKIN - GANGLIA

Hi Robyn,

Wow, you are a "linguist", LOL!!!
One person I'm treating used to have one of those (or so it seems). It was
removed by (gak) banging with a book, if I recall right (I'm told that's the
"traditional" approach!). Some time (many years?) after that he developed a
(??) "fatty tumor" (lipoma?) at his throat (large!). Would those be the
same thing? Do you know what the (either) tumor is made of, or have any
idea what causes them (either) to form?

Thanks!
Shannon

Quite a mouthful I agree :-)

From what I have gleaned from reading about it, the myxoid/ganglion cyst
seems not to be a true cyst, and is secondary to an osteophyte. Evidence
supports that with removal of the osteophyte, and not touching the ganglion,
that it prevents the recurrence - without the removal of the osteophyte
and/or the ganglion, there is reoccurrence.

So, it seems that if looking at the cause, it may be more useful to treat
the osteophyte formation diathesis.

Re the fatty tumor - lipomas are slow growing benign tumors of fatty tissue
that form a lobulated soft mass enclosed by a thin fibrous capsule. I did
read that the single lipomas usually occur in women, and the diffuse
lipomatosis of the neck and shoulders are seen mainly in men (I knew an
elderly gentleman with a really really large one on the side of his
cheek/neck, which was drained every now and then, but they left it alone, as
cosmetically it did not bother him - he was in his nineties). Modern
medicine does not have an explanation of etiology as far as i can see.

Just as an exercise for curiosityif you cross lipoma with ganglion here is
what you get
TUMORS, benign - ganglia and lipoma

arn. ars. BAR-C. BELL. bry. CALC. carc. con. hep. lach. merc. PHOS. puls.
rhus-t. SULPH. thuj.

interestingly, Phos comes up for osteophytes, and Calc phos does as well,
which comes up for ganglia.

Sorry couldn't be more helpful
