finger nails

Post by Liz Lalor »

does anyone know which Rubric or remedy would have a VERY strong physical aggravation and irritation with letting finger nails grow (and toe nails). Mental desire for long nails but constant feeling of the nails irritating them physically when they grow? Delusion of feeling them maybe but it is described as physical feeling? It is a small part of a case but quite peculiar / I don't think it has much to do with the case, but has anyone ever come across this before?

Could this be a situation that has more to do with being imaginative and/or
sensitive, or getting "stuck" on an idea (repeating thoughts or etc.)?

Do you know how long she has had this experience (since childhood, or ??),
when it started, etc.?

I would be looking at the biting nails rubric as this obviously stops them
growing, so to speak.

There are a number of remedies but one that comes to mind is Ammonium
bromatum - there is such an irritable feeling under the nails and they feel
compelled to bite them.

From a completely different angle, if this was someone who had problems
generally with growing, as in growing up, this puts a very different
emphasis on the case.

Best, Joy

Joy-
That is an excellent observation and suggestion.
I was thinking about Alumina ( Fingers, nails- gnawing feeling
beneath fingernails (knerr); and Boericke.
of course Alumina eats so many strange things including nails ( and
hammers!!!).
