Dear Beverly, having been enjoyably round the houses with this case I am
offering this latest idea. I am going to be away for a couple of days so am
posting it now.
There have been many interesting points raised, hope they have been for you.
IGNATIA:-
Grief and disappointment
Very sensitive, esp. to reprimands and criticism
Romantic
Cultured, refined, artistic - very able
Perfectionists
They want to assert but cannot always do so
When alone can be overwhelmed with loneliness
They keep it all within - oppression
They try to understand what is happening to them
They get overstrained and frustrated
Physical problems can often come on when the emotional plane is seemingly >>
They can become emotionally hard after being hurt
Reserved
Gets hurt easily in a relationship
There is much sighing - wants to breathe deeply - oppressed chest
Develop attitudes that life is not worth living - can't find any reward for
all their hard work
Cough prevents breathing
Cough >> for it
Medorrhinum has been suggested:-
My understanding of this Rx is that they are very hurried - one of our most
hurried Rx
They loath responsibility - your patient seems to thrive on it - she has
been called super-conscientious!!! I cannot see Medorrhinum being like that.
Intensely nervous
Very weak, dull and inactive - odd seeing as they run around so much doing
nothing.
Very forgetful and dazed
Indisposed to work
Very hot and sweaty
Can be both >> for damp - and of course so much more.
Anyway I hope this helps and thank you for your patience with us.
Best wishes, Joy Lucas

most
that.
Dear Joy,
Be carefull to rule out a remedy this way.
You have to deal only with the symptoms which are available, 'negative'
symptoms don't exist.
Also remember there are polarities in remedies, Nux-v can be mild, Phosphor
can be closed
It's different when you look at the grand constitutional remedy picture, or
a layer which often gives only a few symptoms.
Also be aware that some symptoms are not real symptoms, but a compensation
for the opposite weakness.
I think Ignatia might be the remedy which covers the more constitutional
remedy picture.
To be honest I don't think that Ignatia covers the current pathology.
Ignatia has a superficial and erratic character of its symptoms.
Although, when the present state would point to Ignatia I would not hesitate
to give it.
This state would point out : accepting the defeat and ceasing futher
efforts, and something like: why is this happening to me (annoyed)!
decided. Is it a layered case where the presenting complaint (the asthma and
all its modalities) needs attention - the correct Rx will open up another
layer. Does one begin with a nosode to help clear the picture. Does one
begin with Sulphur (ditto). Etc etc.
I vote for the nosode! since the case is sycotic the choice is obvious.
Sulphur is already given, and it should be guided by symptoms (present
state).
