Strange case
Strange case
I had a strange case in today - I know, all my cases are strange!! Another "last resort" case!
Young man age 22, muscular, tanned , hair spiked up, eyebrow pierced with silver ring, university student. For the last 2 years he has had flushing of the face. he has been treated with tetracycline,, Chinese herbs, special skin care products and nothing has worked. he describes it as rosacea but no pimples. It has some good modalities - in the sun., He was abroad in the heat and didn't flush once! sunlight.
He is a very sociable lad and has to be seen with a good looking girl. he wouldn't go out with a girl unless she was good looking, yet he tells me how jealous he was when a girlfriend won a competition for being the best looking girl because she got so much attention. He loves meeting people and will chat to anyone but then says "Sometimes I will look at someone and think I don't like them. I'm big on first impressions". Loves company, hates doing anything on his own.
He has never spoken to friends about this problem of flushing as it is too personal. He hides it with his hand if he is talking to someone and it happens. He has missed lectures at college because he has felt so hot and knows he will flush. He is embarrassed about it. "I am quite superficial. If I saw someone with a red face I would notice it and I wouldn't speak to a girl who had a red face." This is all about pride. Fears - being scarred or burnt in the face. (Rubric vanity?) He says looks are important to him and he looked at Jason on Big Brother always doing his hair and thought that he was like him!!
"I don't feel normal" (Delusion - ugly?)
Other notable things - his arms were full of dark moles and he is taking Lamsil tablets are he has discoloured toe nails because of toe fungus - He has taken these before but apparently not long enough to kill the infection properly.
He says he desires meat and doesn't eat sweets or chocolate but then said that he stopped eating them when he had acne so is this a real aversion? He drinks sweet alcoholic cocktails!!
He doesn't get angry- couldn't even give me an example.
Remedies that I have thought of are Platina (he does think he is right all the time) Thuja- hiding the flushing from people , thinking it is so terrible and the fungus, moles and sexually transmitted disease.
That's basically the case.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Regards
Rochelle

He says it is < heat but better in the sun!! This case is full of polarities. Looking at the rubrics you have given below we are back to the Rx I first thought of in top spotThuja - it isn't there in embarrassment from ailments but I am sure that they are!! Second comes Sulphur , but he likes the sun and there is no anger that I can find and I think it is all wrong.
Did you have anything particular in mind?

Re: Strange case
Best not to encourage the idea that the remedy to prescribe is the remedy
that comes out on top of repertorisation - the simillimum could be the rx
that comes out bottom of the list.
Where are all the polarities you talk of in this case?
Sulphur do not have to be angry all the time especially if haughtiness and
jealousy are supplanting the anger. But it is odd to think that someone who
is so jealous doesn't show some kind of anger attached to the jealousy. I
would be asking him how he expresses this jealousy.
Sulphur is hot usually but is also >>> dry warm weather, they like dry heat,
but they can have chills as well, frequent flushes of heat. Sulphur skin is
painfully sensitive to wind - only the itching is <<< warmth.
Thuja have lots of emotional sensitivities but from what you wrote it
sounded like Sulphur to me.
What is he studying at University?

Re: Strange case
Hi,
I wouldn't completely rule out the body-piercing as causative! I consulted an acupuncture friend of mine who considers it possible & would look into that aspect.
whenever you body-pierce - ears, especially - you quite often may hit some sensitive points that may disrupt ones energies. my friend suggests if you want to pierce, confine it to non-acu points (ie consult first!)

Sincerely,
Didi Ananda Ruchira

Re: Strange case
Thank you. I have studied Scholten and Sankaran and except for agg cold amel, sunlight desire and amel, red discoloration and rest amel I don't see any of the mental and emotionals fitting unless I am not looking properly. Now if he had a weak ankle I would be interested. Maybe I will ask him?
Having read Sulphur and Thuja in Scholten I have to say that Joy's idea of Sulphur does look good
I also see lots of elements of him in Thuja . I remember being told at college that if a case comes out confused because of the way the patient jumps from one things to another and back again think of Thuja or Lach. I did tidy it up when I sent it to the list and there were things I left out. The Blockage (nose) repeated often also makes me think Thuja. Anyway I have sent him via email a list of questions which I hope will make the choice clearer to me. I am still open to ideas and suggestions.
