This remedy is useful in catarrhal conditions of bladder & whooping cough.

Sensation of foreign body between upper lid and eyeball.

There is whooping cough with expectoration of much tough white mucus which is accompanied with vomiting.

Therer is lancinating pains from kidney to bladder & brick-red sediment,hematuria and calculus.

until
an enormous clot of black blood is passed per vagina.

Dear all,

now this is an interesting quiz, because by _normal_ repertorization it
would be difficult to get THAT remedy from the symptoms presented.

(1.) This remedy is useful in catarrhal conditions of bladder & whooping
cough.
2. Sensation of foreign body between upper lid and eyeball.
3. There is whooping cough with expectoration of much tough white mucus
which is accompanied with vomiting.
4. There is lancinating pains from kidney to bladder
5. Walking
8. brick-red sediment
9. hematuria
10. calculus

Using the Rep (PCKent in this case), without the describing rubric No.1.
Inerestingly:
Kali-bi covers the symptoms 2-7, (symptom 5 expressed in: Kidneys, pain,
stitching, extending down ureters), but not # 8-10.
Bell covers all symptoms except 6 and 10
Puls and Sep cover all symptoms except the characterizing #4.

In Murphy's Rep for this characterizing symptom there is a subrubric:
Kidney, lancinating pain, acute prolonged, extending from left ureter
into bladder -
here we have only one remedy.

When checking this well-known remedy in Vermeulen e.g., ALL symptoms
mentioned above are listed.

Yet from the repertorization, this remedy is not listed under the
rubrics Generalities Agg. touch, exertion; Amel. walking (neither in
PCKent nor Murphy).
So, when simply starting from the Rep, it would be difficult to find
that remedy, without being able to do a full word-search in a MM.

Or of course, best way is to know the MM by heart.

Let's see what other ways would lead to this remedy (if we wouldn't know
anything about it, and the time when it was proved):

- Jahr's Manual and rep. can't give us a clue, because the remedy is not
listed there.
- Guernseys keynotes ditto.
- Lilienthal: you can check the rubrics Nephralgia, and Nephritis and
compare them to the LARGE rubric Cough - much time will be spent in
comparing the remedies listed there.
- Allen's Encyc (Index, Vol XI and XII):
Kidneys cutting or lancinating: remedy not listed there
Walking amel: rubric not listed
Eye, foreign body in, sensation as if: remedy not listed
Urine, sediment, red, brick: remedy not listed

But of course the remedy itself is listed in Allen (Vol. III).
And here you'll also have one of the specifics for the missing general
symptoms:
- better walking (pain in thighs disappears)
(Yet when I look at the Aggravation rubric, there are so many many
symptoms that are AGG. by walking and rapid walking - so I really wonder
why Vermeulen listed it under 'Walking amel.')

In my opinion it should rather be included into the General rubric
'Walking agg'!

So:
if a beginner doesn't know about FAMOUS remedies for whooping cough - I
doubt if he would get to this remedy by simply using the symptoms in the
Rep., only if he could do a full word search.

And:
the Rep can often/sometimes (but needn't always) guide to the remedy,
but without profound knowledge of the MM this may lead ino the wrong
directions.

- It affects the MUCUS MEMBRANES, causing catarrhal condition and irritation

- Accumulation of thick viscid mucus in nasopharynx.
Face
- Crawling sensation.
- Becomes purple, red agg. coughing.
Mouth
- Loud speaking or brushing of teeth causes cough.
- Tip of tongue burns like pepper.
- Sweetish, metallic taste.
- Salivation, constant desire to spit.
Throat
- Accumulation of much viscid mucus; hawking it, excites cough, retching and
vomiting.
- Sensation as of a thread hanging down the back of the throat.
- Any irritation in throat causes cough, retching and vomiting.
- Constricted throat; or as of a plug lodges in it.
- Profuse post-nasal discharge.
- Sensation as if uvula is elongated, causing constant hawking.
Stomach
- Irritation of throat, hawking, brushing of the teeth causes retching and
vomiting.
- Thirst; drinks water often and in large quantities.
Abdomen
- Excruciating pain from left iliac region, extending to the groins half way
down the thighs; as if fluid were forcing its way there.
Urinary
- Lancinating, violent pain from kidneys to bladder; with dysuria.
- Nephritic colic.
- Constant urging to urinate, amel. after passing blood clots from the
vagina in females.
- Sticking pain along ureters.
- Urine; scanty, thick, heavy, sour; sediment; sandy, dark red, brown or
white; bloody mucus.
- Nephritis.
Male
- Pulsation in glans.
Female
- Vulva sensitive agg. when urinating.
- Menses too early, profuse, black and thick, dark clots, with dysuria.
- Large clots escape from the vagina when passing urine, when quiet or when
rising up.
- Menses; intermittent; flow only in the the evening or at night.
Respiratory
- REGULAR PAROXYSMS OF VIOLENT TICKLING.
- RACKING COUGH ENDING IN VOMITING OR RAISING MUCH CLEAR ROPY MUCUS, hanging
from mouth, with purple red face and internal heat.
- Chronic bronchitis complicated with gravel.
- Whooping cough.
- Cough; periodical, slowly increasing then gradually decreasing in its
intensity, amel. cold air or cold drinks.
- Walking against the wind takes the breath away.
- Soreness or stitches in apices of lungs.
- Shortness of breath.
- Cough of drunkards.
Heart
- Sensation as if everything were pressed towards the heart.
Back
- Coldness in.
- Region of kidneys painful to pressure.
Extremities
- Sensation as if a fine splinter were under the nails of fingers.
Fever
- Burning; as of pepper.
