To those of us from the USA the "King Crab" is the giant Alaskan Crab
(often 6 feet across) from whence we get "crab's legs" as a delicacy.
The Horseshoe Crab is seen on most beaches on the East Coast-- first
as shed skins, and then as actual whole crabs (which, as pointed out,
are more in the spider family).
Those in Europe, who are not as familiar with seeing them on the
beaches, call them "King crabs" but know not what they do.

In the case of Limulus, Hering took a good stab at an idea, and the
proving proved him wrong. We should not weave empty webs.
