Lesser Known Remedies - Pyrus Americanus

Pyrus americanus

This remedy is prepared from the tincture of fresh
bark of Pyrus Americana or Mountain ash which belongs
to the natural order of Rosaceae.

The proving is not complete but it has some
interesting mental symptoms.

The most important mental feature is out of body
experience; a Cann-i like state of mind. The patient
feels that he/she is out of his/her body and sees the
body. They feel that they come out of their bodies and
start travelling around. The experience is so much
like those who beleive that they travel with their
astral body.

I would like to add that this remedy is very selfish in as much as the
'self' is the driving force behind this remedy. Very wrapped up in the self,
hypochondriac to the point they will cry out for help. They get confused
about who they are - as you wrote - confusion as to personal identity. Maybe
this is why they need to leave the body and return.

The auras that they see are often picked up because they have a terrible
fear that something bad is going to happen.

It is a swamp tree, loves the damp so there is lots of rheumatics in this
rx. Water features in some form or another - sensation as if full of cold
water. There are also some sensations about being dried up and paralysed.

A beautiful tree.
