Dear Paul,
Causticum is inimical to phosphorus, as a matter of fact. These remedies
are so close that one needs either phos or caust as it is explained in
Sankaran's writings.
There is a relation between phosphorus and aurum, I've seen a sweet
little child with a phosphorus constitution turning into an aurum over
the years due to sad and unfortunate environmental conditions; in the
end, he was withdrawn in sullenness, refusing to speak and banging his
head against the floor in a very self-destructive way. Unfortunately,
the mother was not able to undergo a homeopathic constitutional
treatment for herself and her child.
So I'm sure there is a connection between these two remedies, which I
would not call phos-aurum constitution, because you are not both at the
same time. Of course, you are right in doubting a categorical connection
of the phos-aurum constitution with MS.
Yours sincerely
Cl. Mennel
Dear Dr. Bucur,
Causitcum Hahnemanni is a very long and deep acting remedy, it is
trimiasmatic with sycosis being the foremost miasm, and is indicated in
rheumatic, artritic and katarhalic constitutions, it is an important
remedy for paralysis, neuropathy and spasms in acute as well as chronic
states. Therefore, Multiple Sklerose (and by the way Morbus Parkinson as
well) is listed amongst the foremost indications. Causticum is
right-sided, only in sciatica left-sided.
Causticum is rather stout, although giving the impression of having a
weak and stiff body; the eyes are warm, affectionate an emotional,
complexion and hair are rather dark. The features convey the impression
that he (or maybe she) is unhappy and hopeless. The head often inclines
slightly to the right
Typical of Causticum is that he (sometimes she) weeps over the fate of
others, feels sympathy for the underprivileged and miserable in this
world (something the rogue you had in mind never would do) Causticum is
very sympathetic, helpful and anxious for others and fears that
something might happen. He (sometimes she) is very loyal, and
voluntarily works for others and is really generous. Causticum is not
interested in making a carrier and does not fight for himself (herself),
it is only injustice that makes him (sometimes her) demonstrate in the
streets, write petitions and go on strike. (By the way, it is extremely
unlikely that he might become a bomb-thrower for he has too much
sympathy and would never hurt innocent people, because that would be
unjust.) Causticum is very idealistic, mostly believes in God, but on
the other hand he is very critical, also self-critical and unforgiving
as far as his own mistakes are concerned. If his ideas fail, when he is
disappointed, he will feel tired in mind and soul and will be rather
pessimistic. Normally you find him in a group as primus inter pares,
where he is fighting for justice.Or as Sankaran puts it: "He, being the
strongest member of that group, has to take care of the rest of the
group, and he becomes very much concerned if anyone is in trouble. His
strength lies in the strength of the group and he is the one who looks
after it." Quite a number of widows shouldering the full responsibility
for their families alone need Causticum.
There might be some cases of heartburn in Causticum, but it is not the
leading symptom, these are rather: Stomach, disordered, bread, after )
Stomach, eructations, empty ) Stomach, fullness, sensation of ) Stomach,
nausea, headache, during ) Stomach, pain, bread, after ) Stomach,
thirst, extreme ) Stomach, vomiting, sour ) extract from Kent, MM red
only. And by the way, Causticum is much more prone to laryngitis than to
oesophagits.
Well, as we all know or maybe should know every remedy has its good and
bad sides. In the end good and bad is a question of morality beyond the MM.
As Sankaran exemplifies nicely in the case of Staphysagria with Mahatma
Gandhi and his son Harilal in: /The Spirit of Homoeopathy,/ p. 26, there
are situational stress and stress from a disease, one might feel OK
about oneself and with others or one might experience oneself different
from others, separated and special in a negative way. Thus, lives may
develop which might be considered good and bad in moral retrospect.
Yours sincerely,
Cl. Mennel

This child was Ca-ca not Aurum. Aurum children are different. They are for
their age very deep thinking and melancholic. Always music in their life somehow
even in early age.The kind of child 8 or 9y old, looking out on the horizon
of the sea and trying to understand life or astronomy already or so while the
others are playing on the beach behind him with their plastic toys, sand
castels, etc. For this age already very deep and advanced. THIS is Aurum. Kind
regards, Dr.medic.Viorel V. Bucur (www.dr-bucur.com).
