Think of interest. Wonder how it could be combated apart from avoiding
preprepared food as I have always try to do . Could there be a homoeopathic
approach. I think the solution must be political. I was horrified the other
day when thought would buy Berocca[ Vit B and C] and on reading label
further found it contained aspartame. It has been massively promoted here,

Thank you, Jean, for this intriguing post. I've wondered about the
addictive qualities of fast food, especially after seeing the movie
"Supersize Me!," which is about what happened to one man who dined
exclusively at McDonald's for a month. He gained about 30 lbs. (which was
equivalent to the pound per day of sugar he consumed through their food),
his liver enzymes went crazy, he had chest pain, and he became somewhat
impotent. All that in only one month!

homeopathic point of view of course

There is also a syndrome called 'chinese restaurant syndrome' - where the
effects of msg cause symptoms very similar to sudden heart failure. By the
way I love chinese food so no offence meant with this label, but msg is very
dangerous.

Yes. During the 1950-60 there was a product on the market in the USA
called "Accent" which was pure MSG. Sprinkled in on your cooking to
"bring out flavors."
The chinese restaurants I frequent do NOT use MSG in their cooking,
although some might be in the pre-made sauces.

Most chinese restaurants in asia use msg. An effective antidote is - Coke!
So for those who are sensitive to msg, have a Coke to accompany your chinese
meal
