Obstacles to Recovery / Cure

Post by Soroush Ebrahimi »

Dear Colleagues

In Aph 3 of the Organon Hahnemann say: "if, finally, he knows the obstacles
to recovery in each case and is aware how to remove them"

Please offer your views as to what 'obstacles to recovery / Cure' may be and
how one would remove them.

There was a good article about this in an issue of Homeopathy in
Practice about a year ago.

Aside from all those already mentioned by Ardavan, I'll mention
structural changes that can only be fixed by an osteopath or
chiropractor.
Long ago I treated a lady. Good Nat Mur case. No reaction. I sent her
to a professional homeopath. He gave two more (higher) potencies of
Nat mur. No reaction.
He then (being a cranial osteopath) checked her and found no movement
of the right side.
Turns out she was wearing a removable bridge in her teeth. It had to
be shaved down a bit. Movement was restored, and remedy worked.
The Osteopath said that he has seen many cases where the reaction to
the remedy is bound up in structural problems.

Dear Soroush, I am sure you are referring to obstacles within the lifestyle
of the client, but, there are also obstacles to cure within the practice of
the homeopath to consider as well and the whole of Stanza 3 makes subtle
reference to this.

Best, Joy

Dear Soroush,
Main obstacles are:
1. Bad diet (quality & quantity)
2. Bad life style
3. Immoral behavior
4. Ontological confusion
5. Social instability
6. Severe economical pressure
(3 & 4 'may' persist even after a remedy, well chosen according to the manifestations of 3 & 4. They usually need to be cured by other means and not only by a dynamized remedy!)
Regards,
Ardavan

Hi Ardavan,

What a lovely, succinct list!
But what is "ontological confusion"?

Thankyou,
Shannon

Dear Shannon,
The word ontology is made up of onto- + -logy. Onto- comes from the Greek word of 'on' which is pres. part. of the Greek verb 'einai' which means 'to be'. Onto- means being, existence.
By ontological confusion, I mean, the confused state of mind related to a kind of disorientation regarding one's position in existence. A confusion about the concepts related to the question of 'Why I exist?' and basic questions about our life and death.
To be healthy in a holistic point of view, the person should either reach a stability and find the answers to these basic questions by joining an organized system of belief (religious, mystical,...) or feel the meaning of life in a peaceful path of individuation and personal growth.
If the above paths do not exist in one's life, the confusion may also affect the mind and body of the person which may not respond to any
homeopathic treatment (acting as an obstacle to treatment).
First existence then health!!
Regards,
Ardavan

With thanks, The second part of the question was "and how one would remove
them."

What do you mean by Immoral behaviour - In whose eyes?
What do you mean by social instability?

Dear Soroush,
Regarding the immoral issues, although moral values may be different in different societies, cultures, religions, ideological systems,... the disharmony which is caused consciously or subconsciously, because of the mismatch between archeotypal or parental sense of morality and the patient's thoughts and behavior are the same. This mismatch can be cured but not usually by a dynamized remedy!
Social instability is experienced by those who have not developed a social adaptation regarding their adapted 'persona', career,.. in society.
Kind regards,
Ardavan

Re your 4th para: t's not clear to me - do you mean to say that if a person
does not follow either path, s/he suffers from ontological confusion,
whether or not s/he feels the existential angst?
