Hello,
Is it possible to medicate globules with the mother tincture of a remedy
(like Echinacea, for example) and if so - for how much time will the remedy
have a "shelf life"? (That is that these globules will remain active and not
spoiled).
The same question is regarding 1x potency.
regards,
Rafy

Re: Pharmacy question
Given that "dilute-and-succuss" is what potentizes the substance at an
*energy* level, I'd be surprised to hear that MT in such tiny amounts
(hundredths of a drop) could be effective! Have you found it to be?

Dear all,
I think Julian gave a comprehensive answer, though I'd like to add some comments.
As a matter of fact, I have seen a local homeopath make up such Rx's in "1x" 2x, 3x etc.
It would mean 1 drop or less per globule. And to my experience usually such MT & low potencies are given in drop doses of 1-10 drops.
Shannon: correctly made, even an MT is sucussed during manufacture.
Again, 1x = MT. If it's marked 1x it is probably a chemical source rather than a herb.
In my experience, I do use a lot of MT's usually in 2-10 drop doses. And very effective. Even more effective is the 2x according to homeopathic principles.. At our clinics we often give a 2x to patients, 5 drops once or twice a day. This stretches our supplies too.
China 2x still very effective in Malaria.
Cheledonium, Carduus M, for liver
Iodum, China, Ceonuthus in spleen
Syzygium for diabetes
If you refer to therapeutics books such as Clarke's Prescriber- you'll notice that the low doses are often liquid. Solid prescriptions would be the crude substance itself givin as "grain" doses.

Dear Didi,

Are you making these from a Herbal Tincture? Wouldn't it be cheaper to put the 2x for instance onto pillules?
I got in touch with Helios once and was told that to make a liquid potency it is 2 drops of Medicating Potency to 10mls water and add 2 drops of alcohol to preserve it.

Re: Pharmacy question
Dear Rochelle & all,
I'm making them up from homeopathic Mother Tinctures gotten from a homeo pharmacy. From the MT we make up bottles of 2x or even up to 3x. The 2 reasons for this is (a) extending our supply - 100ml of MT can make a litre of 2x. (b) homeopathically speaking less quantity is needed per dose (eg 2-5 drops rather than 5-15 drops) and it is more effective
Wouldn't it be cheaper to put the 2x for instance onto pillules?
could be. since I think, till now, in terms of drop doses, I don't see the point of pillules. Too small a dose.

yes. but "liquid potency" and "medicating potency" can be any potency in water. on this point, I can say that we've found here (tropics, maybe?) that rx's are better preserved in at least 30% alcohol (eg 7 ml water, 3 ml alcohol).
Up till now, regarding MT's I think of them as "near-crude" (ha! sounds like that misnomer "near-miss"!!) "herbals", and use them mainly in mixtures for palliative/curative treatments (eg our own "diabetes tonic", "bp tonic" " ' viagra' tonic", "womens tonic" ), drainage & organ therapy (eg our "spleen" and "piles") and as singles - eg china (malaria/ liver), carduus m (liver), cheledonium (liver), berberis (kidney, liver), ceanothus (spleen), iodine (glands) and so on.
Not to mention regular use of our own home-made and home-grown production of tinctures: neem (azad ind), ashvagandha (withania som), marigold (false calendula), cinnamon, sage, plantago, cornsilk (stig m), parsley (petersel) and African Potato (hypoxis, as yet unproven homeopathically).
With apologies to our single-Rx classists - below are some formulas we've found useful in Kenya:
SPLEEN: china, iodium, ceonothus: enlarged or dysfunctional spleen or liver esp. after malaria
KIDNEY: berberis, equisetum, hydrangea (& i'll soon add corn-silk & parsley)
DIABETES: syzygium, abroma augusta, rauwolfia
HEART: rauwolfia, cactus, cratagus, strophanthus, ashok
MALE "viagra": yohimbrim, agnus, sabal serr, damiana
PILES: hamamelis, peoania, aesculus
WORMS: terebinth, chelone, pepito, cina 3x, chenopodium, teucreum
ALCOHOLISM: strophanthus, lobelia, quercus, nux v 3x

Re: Pharmacy question
Thanks for that which I found very interesting. I use herbal tinctures. One herb I can recommend that you add to your diabetes mixture is Gymnema. Brilliant stuff (but tastes foul!!)
All the best
