Dear Colleagues,
I met with the shareholders of The Homeopathic Symposium and
presented to them the idea that if The Symposium was truly a service
for the entire community, then we needed to look at drastically
lowering our prices to make our materials easily affordable to
everyone. Well they went for it! Please read on…

Video Cases at a Price Everyone Can Afford--
Re: Video Cases at a Price Everyone Can Afford--
Malcolm,
The videos should work on any system, period! We shouldn't have to
download fancy programs that end up increasing the cost ("free" at first). Make
them available on CD's and I'll subscribe.

George,
I'm not sure which "fancy program" you're referring to that
will "increase the cost". Only the free Real One Player (available
on-line) is needed to watch the video cases on the site.
Unfortunately, due to the issue of patient confidentiality, we will
never offer the cases on CD.
We've gone to great lengths to create a private, encripted site which
requires user verification and which plays the patient videos in a
way which cannot be captured onto a computer. A CD may be too easily
copied and distributed to those who are not medical professionals or
students of homeopathy. We can't risk an invasion of privacy of that
sort with the patients who have so generously allowed us to use their
case for educational puposes.
Sincerely,
Malcolm Smith ND

Re: Video Cases at a Price Everyone Can Afford--
Malcolm,
When I downloaded the Real One Player I saw an implication that it was
temporarily "free". And I still couldn't make it work to view your sample
case. Your tech support was supposed to get back to me but did not do so. By
fancy programs I meant Flash player which you also offer.
All that encription may be for naught--and patients should understand
this--as it doesn't take much imagination to see how something that plays on a
computer can easily be captured and burned into DVD, two steps at most!

Re: Video Cases at a Price Everyone Can Afford--
George,
There are two versions of the Real One Player, one is a trial version
of a player that comes bundled with all different types of streaming
media. The other is free, completely free, no-strings-attached
free. Forever. The flash program is also completely free.
I can't speak for our tech support staff other than to say they're
usually quite on top of their job, but if I can personally help you
with your technical issue, I'd be happy to.

Dear Dr. Smith,
I cannot find my way around your site. The free case is not in an obvious place. The listings of cases that are up come up once, then I can't go back to them. And mini-cases that you have up cannot be found later.
Hope the site gets easier,
Thanks,
Ellen Madono

Re: Video Cases at a Price Everyone Can Afford--
The administrator of the Symposium site just called me and I found out how to maneuver. It is obvious, but I was not seeing the small scrolling bars of the various cases and tutorials. Mini cases rotate automatically and it is not possible to find a previous one.
Sorry. The site is much more transparent.
Blessings,
Ellen Madono

Dear Malcolm,
Have you been able to make an agreement with the Toronto School of Homeopathy? If not, I would like to cancel all my orders. I need to focus on finishing my course first.
Sorry I have caused so much commotion. The rules and politics of certification are not clear to me.
