Dear Rochelle,

I actually only took 2 rubrics (from Synthetic)

1) cautious - because this had become a leading feature in her disease - she
wasn't cautious before, she was strong, capable, hard working etc. But then
she had to check the door 2-3 times before leaving the house.

2) clairvoyent - this is such a rich quality symptom - many people claim to
be clairvoyent or have moments of prediction but for those who really do
have this quality then it almost becomes a strange rare and peculiar
symptom.

Fortunately these are both quite small rubrics and I homed in on M-arct
straight away (in both rubrics) and although I have never prescribed it I
knew a little bit about it. I know a lot more now!

Best wishes, Joy

Dear Joy,
I see what you mean. I repped it in the combined and there were only 5 Rx
that came up for both rubrics. We were always taught that if a small Rx
comes up clearly to look at it carefully!! I wish I could get to the core of
a case as quickly as you. Oh well maybe in another few years!! (sigh!!)

Rochelle

Naja A 70 plus man with history of manic depression, and diabetes. I gave
him Tub Bov 1m a year ago. This had a devastating effect ,night sweats
,weakness followed by marked improvement. Some time later I gave him
Platina because of much dissatisfaction over how his colleagues were acting
in a certain situation. That was very useful. He became willing to
relinquish need for control. He became very wary of me and my remedies as he
decided he liked his highs and lows. However he is a friend and decided to
see me again because of pain L chest and shoulder. On prior conversations I
knew that there were a lot of events in his past which he chose not to think
about too much. I decided on Naja on the L sided complaint and my previous
frequent use of it in Ailments from suppression. I carefully explained that
things would come up that he might feel a need to talk about and then put
behind him. On follow up the pain has almost gone and mentally he feels
much lighter also he has decided that in future instead of always embarking
on projects where other peoples needs take priority he will endeavour to
realise his own needs. I have another client up here who needs at
different times either Platina Tuberculin or Naja. His wife is so
grateful. The question of needing more than one remedy confuses me . Is it
really so or am I not finding the true remedy
If any one remembers. My Hellebore patient passed through that stage and
during a very difficult time when her daughter kept blackmailing her for
money {was going to be evicted and put in a refuge [all due to squandering
resources] needed Aurum Arsenicosum. At least she is not back in psych
ward
My Arg Met case developed cough ,sputum contained casts, and a skin rash.
The testicular tenderness returned. The cough and casts and skin rash
responded to Bacillinum. Then he got bloating and nausea and vomited
coffee grounds one day./ I had forgotten about his oesophageal varices. He
had been an alcoholic many years ago. I advised we had to take great care
and go to hospital if necessary and gave him a Phosphorus 30c. I am also
giving him low potency liver drainage remedies. A tcm practitioner
suggested that. I have lost his letter. He has settled down and is
reasonably comfortable but certainly treating a patient with old serious
illness is fraught with anxiety. I should tidy this up but have to go now.

Dear Jean,
It can very helpful and far less anxiety producing (in that you don't get
terrible reactions which really lead to nothing in the end) to work with
"small remedies" in medium to low potencies for people with serious disease,
i.e. organ dysfunction.

Hi everyone, Leonie from Australia here. I have a
certificate in Ho and am slowly studying for
professional qualification but mainly using it for
family care so far.
Here in Australia we have a rising rate of
meningococcal disease which starts out as a type of
flu (body aches, feverish, runny nose etc) but then
very quickly develops a purple rash - all over but
especially on limbs - large irregular blotches - then
can progress to gangrene in fingers/toes hands/feet
and limbs. People have died in less than 24 hours from
this disease. Other people have suffered amputations
etc.
I am asking for your help to come up with a short list
of possible remedies that could be considered in the
event of this disease afflicting someone here. I know
that Hahnemann himself used to do this at the start of
any outbreak, he would compile a list of possible
remedies based on the overall symptom picture and then
select the most suitable from the short list to suit
each individual. Because this disease maims and kills
people so quickly it feels essential for me to create
such a list here.

If anyone feels moved to help me in this process I
would be very grateful. Please feel free to question
me for more details, I will tell you whatever else I
know. Also any suggestions for differential selection
of short-listed remedies would be deeply appreciated.
Many thanks and I look forward to helping you too
whenever I can.
Sincerely,
Leonie

Hi Joy,
Not sure that this is what you meant by online cases but thought I'd run
this by you...
My background is that I am very new to Homeopathy, I have been aware of
the homeopathic remedies for years but never quite "believed" in them,
if that makes any sense. Anyway, my friend got me interested in it when
she gave my 16 y.o. daughter a dose of Chamomilla for her moodiness,
anger, and irritability for no apparent reason. My daughter came to me
a few days later and said "that stuff really made me feel good".
So now I am looking for a remedy that might help my husband with these
headaches that he gets with weather changes. Whenever we get a marked
change in barometric pressure he gets these headaches over his right eye
that feel like a vise. Light and noise make it worse, it can start at
any time but often he wakes up in the middle of the night with it,
nothing he takes OTC such as aspirin, ibuprofen, sinus remedies, etc.,
help at all with the pain. My book is "Homeopathic Remedies" by Asa
Hershoff, ND but it says nothing in it about these types of headaches.
It lists about 12 different headache remedies with pictures of them
also, but none of them seem to be a close match. Although several list
symptoms that he has...such as Argentum nitricum (one-sided, frontal.
Band or vise-like pain better with hard pressure and open air), Cocculus
(Occipital headache with very weak muscles, heavy head as if in a daze
and Worse w/talking, motion, noise light). Has anyone ever helped
someone with symptoms such as these?

Below are some of the symptoms you mention and the remedies that come out of an "elimination" analysis. I might study the remedy Mercury (which sensitive to barometer, worse night, and can have vice-like headaches). so far it seems like a good candidate, but you would need to confirm it using the personality of mercury if possible, other confirmatories. If it does not pan out, there are quite a few others which come out as possibilities.
+GENERALITIES; BAROMETER changes agg.: achy., gels., merc., phos., rhod.
+GENERALITIES; WEATHER; change of; agg. (K1347, SRII-751, G1112)
-HEAD PAIN; GENERAL; night; agg.
-HEAD PAIN; PRESSING; vise, as if in a (K192, G159)

Elimination: act-sp., alum., am-c., ant-t., bell., carb-v., caust., chel., chin., cocc., graph., kali-c., kali-i., Lyc., mag-c., Merc., nat-m., Nit-ac., Nux-m., puls., RHUS-T., spig., sulph., tarent.
---------------------------------------------------------

If it is better from hard pressure (wasnt clear if this was case from your writeup, we could get down to just the below (as a possible angle, not conclusive), but the above is a good place to start.

Elimination: bell., CHIN., Nux-m.

Might want to get a (relatively inexpensive) indian edition of boerickes materia medica to start, or (about $80-good for the long haul) murphys remedy guide (new edition coming out soon or maybe already out-maybe able to pick up the previous edition (fine for your purposes for a long time) at a discount.. minimum price or homeopathic educational services are both found by quick online search, and have online catalogs. will need to study materia medica like you were doing to confirm a remedy.

But buying a book is not really necessary, because many books are available online. You can find them at:

http://www.homeoint.org/books

(hope I got the syntax correct on this)-if doesnt work, try a search on boericke materia medica; clarke; kent; There are a lot of books to use. Try to find out the "genius" of each remedy you study and see if it matches the key symptoms of the cae.

There are many remedies with a headache similar to this but you seem to be almost there-which one also matches his case as a whole? with peculiar symptoms first, mentals or generals next, particulars last in hierarchy of symptoms. His barometer sensitivity (general) and the vise sensation are also good peculiars,, night aggravation is a good general, what unique mental symptoms does he have? also, does the headache start somewhere and migrate to above R eye, or is that the only locus (other remedies such as silica have the peculiar pattern occiput to over R eye), but that is
not as peculiar as your barometer and vise sensation.

Since you asked Joy, I'll let her take if from here, until you hear from her about next steps to take you can study some remedies at the above website if desired. The remedy abbreviations should be decipherable at the above website although they may be slightly different in some cases. See if you can identify some unique mental/emotional characteristics your husband has or other peculiar physical symptoms present with or not during the headache.

the best to you on your journey healing,

Andy
