Dear Julian,

I am not good at games like trivial pursuit. I need organizing tactics. I am comparing remedies, but I am also studying one remedy at a time. For example reading Vermeulen's Concordant MM on phosphorus, the nature based organization of the rubrics did not jump out at me. The person who responds to phosphorus has problems misreading sensations (hot, cold, numbness, spasms), bleeding, organ or muscular atrophy, mood swings could all be about the fatty degeneration of membranes. Nerves are covered by a phospholipid myelin sheath. If the membrane breaks down (as in MS), nerve impulses leak. This happens in the capillaries, and in weak organs. Other remedies could have some of these symptoms, but they would stem from different physical and mental problems. I began studying phosphorus' role in the phospholipid membranes, then many of such symptoms made sense because they are variations of the same phenomenon. Such understanding does not cover rare and peculiars like heat running up the spine, or not being able to hear human voices, but the general big pattern became clearer. (There are several.) The remedy's action seems to be founded in the biochemical role of phosphorus as the interface between fatty acids and water friendly molecules. For me, that's a good jumping off place. I can attach the clinical observations to that base. Few remedies can be studied in this way, but I am looking for ways to ground knowledge of the remedy in nature.

Have you read the Clinical Materia Medica of E. A. Farrington? He
organized a lot of stuff in a similar way as you are describing, and
you fight find his work will resonate with you. God knows where he
would have gone had he lived longer. He was a brilliant thinker who
died at age 38.

You might also look at Vermeulen's "Prisma" which adopts a broader
view of looking at the remedies.
