Hello,
since yesterday I am a new member of your group coming from Germany and
I want to introduce myself shortly.

I have been studying Homeopathy for some years as a private interest and
last year I started a course with Ira Tucker, which will still last
until end of 2005. At the moment I am learning how to handle the
repertory and I learn about the remedies more detailled. At the same
time I prepare for the xam of "Heilpraktiker" ("Healing Practitioner"?)
which is a special opportunity in German to practice homeopathy without
beeing a doctor (I wonder how you think about this).

I am very interested in learning about homeopathy in English (and also
in Farsi). So this group attracted me because Dr Ardavan Shahrdar is an
Iranian classical homeopath and President of Iranian Homeopathic
Association. I have been learning Farsi for two years and at the moment
I try to translate some categories like pain or headaches in the Murphy
repertory to Farsi (to be a pain in the neck of my poor husband).

So please excuse my bumpy English, but fortunately you will not have to
read it often, because I will mainly stay a passive member and enjoy
your contributions.

I think your English is "impeccable" (used to teach English in high schools
before I saw the light and studied Homoeopathy).

Welcome, Marion. There are many in the U.S. who are the equivalent of
"Heilpraktiker," or professional homeopaths who do not have M.D. degrees,
myself included. Speaking purely for myself, I think an M.D. is a fine
thing to have, but I think there's also a place for non-M.D. homeopaths.
Given how medicine is taught and the mindset that is necessary to practice
it in the modern world, I felt it would take too much time and money for me
to learn allopathic medicine, most of which would then have to be unlearned
to practice homeopathy.

Hello Marion

To add to Cinnabar's comments, here in the UK there is also the equivalent
of "heilpraktiker" in the sense that one can study and practice homoeopathy
without having to be a medically qualified practitioner first.
