On a different note, the same client was advised to drink a litre of
carbonated water a day on the basis it would help keep her bones healthy - I
have been taught that carbonated drinks actually leach calcium out of the
bones, so is it different with water or is the advice wrong?
From my understanding, it is the Phosphates that leach calcium out of the
bones, not necessarily the carbonation process itself.

Some people specifically advise against carbonation itself, as a separate
issue from the phosphates. I don't know, tho, whether that was in
connection with calcium leaching or something else.

Naturally carbonated water, at least, is considered helpful rather than harmful. I read a study recently showing that a daily glass of it helped patients with irritable bowel syndrome significantly, reducing symptoms noticeably.

For what it's worth.... Rosemary
