History of drainage remedies?
Can anyone (Julian?) give some historical background to the practice of
using "drainage" remedies? Did this grow out of herbalism, or ??
Thanks!

"Drainage" is defined by Yasgur (in his dictionary) as using low
potency remedies that have a specific affinity for an organ--
Chelidonium for liver, Berberis for Kidney, etc.
Much of this came from the work of Radermacher in Germany (somewhat
contemporary with Hahnemann). It was taken up again by Burnett, and
reached prominence through the work of Vannier and other French
homeopaths.

Who the hell is going to be the JW oracle (My parents have just returned to UK from 2 months in Tawa..may be hilly/windy but not Olympus or Pergamon.) in 50 + years..I hope the Font of all Knowlege has an apprentice or immortality otherwise we ( or later ) guys are going to be lost in the wilderness...a unique homeopathic library is one thing..a JW who can remember and interpret the data is rarer..

Thanks, Julian!
Can you (or anyone) say a bit about Rademacher, or point me at a website
with info? Julian, I don't see him mentioned in your "Heritage" book--how
come? Would he have been one of the "half-homeopaths" Hahnemann spoke
against, or ?

His book on Organ Remedies was printed in English by Boericke and
Tafel in 1909. It might be available from Indian booksellers.
The BEST book I have come across that discusses Radermacher is "The
Magical Staff" by Matthew Wood. It is published by North Atlantic
Books. Dana sells it, although I think the title might haqve changed.
It is a MUST for anyone interested in the history of homeopathy and
how it interfaces with similar therapies. There is a great bio of
Hahnemann, Kent, and Burnett-- and Radermacher...

Re: History of drainage remedies?
Dear All,
Can anyone tell me whether "drainage remedies" are the same as "organ remedies"?
Dave.

I'm wondering if "drainage" is the right translation. Perhaps some
French speakers might be able to answer that. Where as Burnett saw
these remedies as "building" and supporting weak organs, the French
some saw the organs as needing to be drained-- a very mechanistic way
of looking at things.

In French
Drain ---------- - faire écouler
Drainage------ écoulement, drainage.
There are various other translations mostly depending on a specific
action, like draining a pot after cooking, or emptying a glass.
Hope this helps
